Hey. I have one question. What with world size? On that moment, it is too small :/ Many, many items does not fit, on map.
Example:
I go search spruce for dark wood. And what? I go around all map and i find ONLY two spruce tree. A little bit wrong.
OK, i know - Xbox 360 have small power. But I have a proposition. When we walk away this 1024 blocks, we get loading screen, for further part of world.
Remember about one, for why Minecraft became the popular:
- original graphic
- infinite world
Also when ever Strongholds and mineshafts come out the will probably take up a majority of the underground portion of the map. making it incredibly easy to make it to the end or get rich quick.
Yeah I have a bit of a problem with the world size now, just because some of the rarer blocks/items are veeeeeeeeerrry limited, but I can get used to it. Even if the worlds aren't "infinite" I would still like to see bigger worlds. Right now, I can map an entire world in roughly three minecraft days, which definetly limits exploration, which is what drew me to minecraft originally. As soon as we get strongholds, mineshafts, etc. it is going to be a major problem though, because those are very large and will dominate a 1024x1024 map.
True XBox world size is actually only 864 x 864, not 1024 x 1024. (I don't see this difference as a big deal, I just like being precise.) This is pretty easy to verify now that they've added coordinates to the map item.
I've seen a lot of speculation that the limitation is because of XBLA save file size, or XBox memory limitations, or 4-player split screen issues, or (fill in your favorite theory). Have any of these ever been confirmed by the devs themselves?
I agree that the primary concern with a small world size is the availability of certain biome-specific resources. The original mention of certain types of trees is a good example. Some seeds have little or no clay (even after the patch), others have no snow, some have few if any pumpkins, others have no desert cactus or sugarcane. In the PC game, if you didn't have some of these near home, you could just walk further to find them (as the terrain is continuously generated as you go). In the XBox game, you're out of luck, and would need to start a new seed.
The availability of different ores is less likely to be a problem (in my opinion), since I think they are randomly but still evenly distributed under all biome types. Unless you are trying to build a castle out of diamond blocks or something.
It will be interesting to see how they treat some of the larger-scale terrain in updates (giant mushroom biomes, huge ravines, etc).
From what i understand they did not do an infinite world because of the resources needed if using an infinite world or much larger world with split screen since it has to load the world 4 times. If we didnt have split screen im sure we would have a much bigger world or infinite.
In that case, will all the split screen lovers give up that feature so that others can have infinite worlds?
(I do not want to get in the middle of that fight!)
You all are smart enough to know that in order for the xbox to have the features it does, and run like it does, it can't have infinite worlds. Plain and simple- there was a "design compromise". You may "want" it to, "need" it to, and even "think" you know how it could be done.... but it isn't and it can't... or they would've done it in the first place!
As been stated many times: "If you want infinite worlds, play the PC version."
Go to Twitter and read some of the tweets from 4J Studios to their followers about Minecraft o XBLA. On there they mention that the world is 1024x1024 not 864x864 and that they're in discussions to increase world size. Also they will add enchanting and sprinting in future updates and maybe an XP bar but the ting I want is bigger worlds and i hope they accomplish that as they said on Twitter. So fingers crossed

In-game map is 1024 x 1024. The world you play in and interact with is only 864 x 864.
I really do have concerns about the world size but because of what the future updates hold. When we see ravines, mineshafts, strongholds, jungles, etc...I think the world will seem even smaller than it is now. Not just length and width but most definitely depth.

*** Sorry for my bad English ***
A phone is not an xbox, it's world is small.
An xbox is not a PC, it's world is medium size.
The PC is not an either one, it's world is "infinite".
I accept that and I don't see a problem playing on the one that has the features I want.
