So I finally dug a mineshaft to bedrock, and I'm a bit confused. I figured I'd hit bedrock as the last layer and that would be "layer 0" and I'd be able to count back from there. However, I find myself having two layers of bedrock. I have a layer that is only partially bedrock, with the other blocks being stone, some coal, iron, etc. When I mine those blocks, I get to another layer of bedrock and I finally can't go any further.
So, which is considered level 0? Is it the layer that still had the mineable coal/iron/etc., or is it the bedrock layer underneath that?
If you still have your map and updated the bug fix..... Just go to bedrock and check your map. It now has X/Y/Z coordinates in the top left corner. What are ya trying to find??????
You uncover 2 layers of bedrock, any holes in the top layer are "plugged" in the next layer.
Standing on the top bedrock layer, the map shows Y=5. Since the map shows the height of your head, this top bedrock layer is at Y=3.
Standing on the bottom bedrock layer, the map shows Y=4, so this bottom layer is at Y=2.
Since there is no way (that I am aware of) to remove the bedrock, I don't think we can know what, if anything, is on layer Y=1.
Has anyone ever had a dungeon spawn down into the bedrock on XBox?
Incidently, the lowest safe layer to mine while avoiding lava lakes is where your map shows Y=14 (you are standing on layer 12, lava lakes are at layer 11 on the XBox version).

Thanks for all the information, folks. I really appreciate it. I didn't know the coords were added to the map, so that helps a ton.
Incidentally, because I was affected by the inventory reset bug every time I logged out/in, I have a dozen maps stored away. Now I can finally make use of them all.

Thanks in advance!
Check out my son and I playing games together! Thanks if you do!
Level 0 is under the bedrock
but level 1 is that flat layer of bedrock
