I appreciate the opacity slider added in the recent update, but there is still a small issue for those of us with a Plasma screen.
First off the opacity slider does not affect the reticle at all, and the reticle is very very bright white. I would like to have a adjustment that would allow a different reticle color, something less bright. Also maybe an option that could make the reticle only pop up when I press the mine or place button. Or have an opacity slider just for the reticle.
Also in order to assure no burn in at all I set my opacity slider to 0, and just browse through the inventory. This is slightly annoying but even at 20-30% (where you can see the hotbar enough to use) burn in can still happen if you play for too long.
Here is what I think is a better option/solution. Have a "plasma mode" where whenever I hit the left or right bumpers the hotbar goes from 0% opacity to 100% and have the hotbar stay up while I am going to my new item. Then have it go back down to 0% if I don't trigger the hotbar for about 6-7 seconds. This would be a great option to have and would make burn in almost impossible to happen with the hotbar. Its an easy thing to code into the game for the next update and would be truly appreciated. Make sure the button to the left of the hotbar do the same as well.
Please take my suggestion as I am a big fan of this game (on Xbox and my Mac) and I tend to go overboard on playtime and would hate to cut back because of the burn in issue. Thanks for hearing me out and I hope that you understand why this is an issue.
Please no "plasma is not for gaming BS" Plasmas are great for gaming and 99.9% of all games have no issue with burn in. Minecraft is an exception because it is a very unique game. Please no ignorant posting. Sorry I just get tired of trolls without brains.
i have a plasma screen tv but it has not burned at all. maybe adjust your tv settings.
I am not saying that mine has burned in as of yet, but the reticle has started to ghost a bit, i cant see it unless I look real hard and it will go away, but a long session will end up with it burned in.
The reticle is not always white, try looking at something white in-game and you'll see what I mean.
I know its not always white, but its always there and it will still burn. It has already started to leave a ghost image. It will go away as long as i don't overdue it,, but Minecraft is way to addicting and i am worried about having a permanent + on my screen lol.
Even without a plasma screen, I like the idea of being able to toggle the hotbar on and off on the HUD. I generally know where my equipment is on it anyway, it would be sweet to have that much more viewing area on the field of view.
I have never had burn problem with plasma and panasonic in all the years i have had them..
But suddenly that bright white crosshair from minecraft got stuck. Ofc its gone now, it was just temporarily as i assumed, but it took some time getting it off, it was really strong, and i have for the first time been forced to push down the contrast, light on the tv ALOT while playing minecraft only, so it wont happen again..
That crosshair is unusally strong white, crazy..
There should be an option to make the Ui smaller and the opacity should work on the crosshair also.
We’ve implemented this in the 1.7.3 update so that when you use the quickselect bar and your opacity is set to less than 80%, the opacity will be set to 80%, and will fade back down to the user set value after 6 seconds of no quickselect bar use.
We've also made the crosshair use the opacity settings too, so that the crosshair, quickselect bar, splitscreen UI gamertags and tooltips will all do this auto fade.
plasmas suck for gaming, plenty of games even state in the manual itself "DO NOT play on a plasma screen due to static images burning in".
not rocket science.
try adjusting the brightness/gamma and play in a low-light environment (so you can see a darker image more clearly), beyond that there isn't much to do, they will probably add the crosshair to the opacity slider if enough people request it.
didnt read the bit of your post "dont post plasmas suck for gaming", but im not bothered, plasma do suck for gaming, sorry.
as i said, when a manual clearly states Do not play on a plasma, its pretty clear there is a reason.
its common knowledge that plasma suck for gaming, higher refresh rate or whatever peoples defense for plasmas is, the drawback of higher refresh rate is screen burn in, hence why they suck for gaming.
and if simply stating commonly known facts makes me a troll, then im a troll.
Plasmas do not suck for gaming, and like I said 99.9% of games will not cause any kind of burn in. I have been playing on Plasmas for years and have never had an issue. I appreciate that you "think" that you know what you are talking about, but you obviously don't. A plasma from many many years ago is not ideal for gaming, but modern plasmas are much better. If there was an LCD TV that has the black levels and color reproduction that matched a good plasma then I might consider a switch, but as of now OLED is the only tech that produces plasma like quality....and those screens are still many years off from being even remotely affordable.

Small issue with your plasma screen, mine is perfectly fine & the reticule changes colour when looking at blocks.,
So you must be stationary?
Also don't you have the screensaver turned on in the Xbox setting?
Just like I said in all the other screen burn threads, configure your TV correctly & you won't have this issue, it take 10mins to do.
You shouldn't be able to get a tan from your tv
TV is configured just fine. I was not saying that I have bad burn in, just wanting a feature to help prevent it. Even with a properly configured TV you can still get some burn in if you play long enough. Things like pixelshift don't always help with something like the hotbar in this game since its solid all the way across.

Any idea when this update goes live...roughly?
