You all remember that the leaderboards would always crash the game before the update right? This was fixed, but it is still broken. For some reason, every time I switch filters, the game will severely lag. It could take up to a minute to finally show the leaderboard stats. The game won't freeze anymore, I'm happy they fixed that, but the leaderboards are very slow.
I also want to mention about the hacked leaderboards. I don't think stats are that important to minecraft, but it's just ridiculous. It seems like almost everyone in the top 20 000's are hackers. Everyone has over 60 000 kills of each mob. Maybe after the update, the leaderboards are easier to hack?
One more thing, the leaderboard WILL NOT lag when your viewing the stats of your friends, but IT WILL lag when you change the filter to other people.
