I hate to do another topic about this. I noticed all of the xbox vs pc topics are in present time. I was wondering if the xbox version did catch up to the pc which version would you rather play?
Lets assume the controls are basically the same, Im assuming to sprint you tap down on the left stick, which means the camera mode will mostly be changed. Lets also assume that you won't have multiplayer commands, the spawn is open to construction and the map size is increased maybe 3x. I am also assuming that we will see some mods and texture packs, but they will be far and few. So in this case, which is probably a year or 2 away, would you rather play on the pc or the xbox.
To be safe lets use the current pc version vs the "future" xbla version.
Here are the pros and cons that I can see in the future version of pc vs xbla debate:
PC Pros:
More Mods and Texture Packs(most of which will be free).
More people able to play in 1 server.
Mods allow protection against griefers
Bigger maps
Gets updates first, most likely 1 month earlier
Able to create user mods.
Map editors
PC Cons:
More prone to griefers(if server is open and known)
Harder to connect with friends
No voice chat included
No/Limited Controller support(Haven't tried controller so I'm not sure if true)
Possible lagg or problems running on some machines
XBLA Pros:
All Mods will work flawlessly(with exception of a few bugs)
Easier to connect with friends online.
Voice chat enabled
Ability to use controller for gameplay
Leaderboards
Able to run on all xbox systems(as long as you have the hdd space)
Less griefers
XBLA Cons:
Unable to protect against griefers other than kicking.
Require user to be on for friends to connect.
Maps are limited.
No multiplayer commands
Limited amount of mods and texture packs
May have to pay for some/all mods
Unable to share maps
I did this post because I am tired of people putting down the xbla edition just because it is out of date. I see good reasons to play both and will probably continue to play both in the future. Assuming that xbla editon gets to the same version of pc, I believe the line between xbla and pc will draw alot thinner.

I don't play games on my PC. Mods also don't interest me, because it's a whole Pandora's box thing. As a developer myself, I can easily fire up a debugger and hack my way through the whole system figuring out how to change and fix everything. It's terribly, terribly easy to cheat. That dumps the challenge of any game straight into the toilet, so I'm just not interested in that.
I am also generally uninterested in multiplayer gaming, because I am not a competitive kind of person. Every time I try to play anything multiplayer, I run into a series of people who are very achievement- and goal-oriented; they have next to no interest in roleplay or simply toying with the environment. They are all about "watch this, I learned it on YouTube" or "I'll bet I can do this faster than you." I'm more about "let's do this and see what happens."
I also have weird ideas of fun; I like to start the world over and over from scratch, so I can work out the best path from jack squat to self-sufficiency, which needless to say annoys the crap out of anyone who wants to build anything even remotely permanent. Plus, exploring the world completely is a charge, which I couldn't do if it weren't limited enough to fill out the whole map in under an hour.
So for my purposes, the PC version is not even worth looking at. The XBLA version is almost tailor-made for me and the way I play the game. It's not better; just different. And it's different in ways that I personally like and prefer.
Since I don't play online and think the world is plenty big enough (smile, it could be the size of a PE world!), there is no xbox "cons" for me.
I gave up on the PC one- xbox only for me.
Although I like both versions, I think xbox kind of kills a few things I love about minecraft. The first night ever played I was completely lost and confused, the learning curve is huge and it makes the game exciting. The xbox version has literally no curve, they baby you through everything and its too simple. Also it runs slower which irritates me.
If you're asking which is better I'd say PC if you know other minecraft players and if your computer can handle it, but xbox if you don't have a good computer and you're have more friends on the xbox
I don't see how there is a lack of materials? Can you give an example?
Worlds commonly spawn without certain biomes. People can miss out on deserts (and by extension Cacti) or snowy biomes (missing snow and pine trees) and rarely people have worlds without Sugar cane. However most every world has below ground materials because they all spawn in every biome ^^
I prefer the Xbox edition because Im one of the stubborn gamers who will NOT play on a PC. I don't care that it is less expensive for the games or tech alike, I was raised gaming on the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. Computers are for work. Game consoles are for play. The two don't mix for me!
And I don't mind the small map size. It makes your builds look bigger : P Its also easier to move onto a new map, IMO.
A big problem between xbox and PC MC is world size. If xbox worlds are never expanded then most people will still choose PC MC over xbox's and believe me if I had a PC that could run MC or had the $ to get a PC that actually could I would be playin MC on that rather than Xbox's version of MC. Don't get me wrong I love being able to play MC on Xbox and do enjoy it but this is a huge problem w/me and I know there are others who feel the same way. 4J doesn't have to give us PC size mind you but something bigger would be nice. These maps seems so small and before you know it you're at the edge. Someday Xbox's updates will be all caught up to PC but like I said if 4J doesn't expand the world then more people will choose to play the PC version over Xbox
