MCXBLA die out? Maybe in a couple years but not anytime soon. It has broken records. I've convinced my friend who is a hardcore FPs gamer to play and now is playing MCXBLA 24/7. When I get online "16 friends online" starts up minecraft "10 friends playing minecraft" 10 secs later "3 friends started playing minecraft". Minecraft dieing out? NEVER
For those saying it will die because all games die, let me say that not all games die. Games either die or they become classics. There are plenty of people that still play games like Super Mario Bros(the original) and Final Fantasy 7. These games I believe have reached classic status, and are constantly rereleased. I believe this will happen with Minecraft. The game is very simple, and fully customizable. If you want a castle in your world you can make one, if you want a 5 story house you can make one. Your world is only limited to your imagination and willingness to work.
Alot of games lose value because of graphics getting better and its hard to look back at the old graphics. I remember trying to play a N64 game after years of xbox and found it hard for me to look at those old graphics. You look at Minecraft and the graphics don't seem to matter. It does deter people from playing Minecraft, but those who do play learn that graphics don't always make the game. Minecraft will most likely stay until there is a new updated Minecraft.

"If its a mod its possible to be a feature"
The fact that I can buy FortressCraft, Total Miner, CastleMIner, CastleMiner Z, and a USB keyboard for FortressCraft and still have a couple bucks less than the cost of XBLA Minecraft just makes me not want to buy it at all. Thats four games plus extra goodies, less than the price of one. Also, It reminds me how boring real minecraft is w/o mods and a community. BTW, FortressCraft is very good if you like to create stuff, you guys should check it out! (No survival though )
I think it will hold up fine, not everyone is a PC Gamer, from what I hear minecraft for PC is a pretty hard game to run perfectly. I have the game for PC and for the Xbox, My computer isnt the greatest for running computer games so I generally like to play games for a console rather than PC.
I saw videos of the game for computer before, and I bought it and thought that it was a cool looking game, but never really had the means to buy it for the computer because I don't have a credit card, and I don't have a dedicated computer to run such a demanding game at its full potential.
With the Xbox you won't have to fork over a few grand on a decent computer to run a game you will probably only be playing casually, which for me is how I play minecraft. And the game on Xbox is a solid game for what it is, with new DLC, new updates who knows where the game will end up, it might even turn out better for the Xbox than it is for the computer, who knows?
As long as there is People playing consoles, there will be people playing minecraft for that console.
I agree with some of your position. (Excellent well thought out Topic BTW) I do agree that in time, it will fade away for the next "big game release". All the instant gratification kids will move on to something else...... Then again, true fans will be loyal too. At some point all games get stale and we move on. I think once the XBLA version is on par with the PC version the fan base will diminish. Just my guess. That being said, There's nothing like loading an old game to see it has new features. Minecraft seems to be an Anomaly of sorts just because every new generation still likes playing with Lego's
im 34 and i still occasionaly break out the legos and see what i can build, my son just got his first taste of mc and he begs me to play it. i know there is always going to be (that group) of people who will want to play it still. If it does get old, id still like to come back once in a while and see if theres anything new.
in all respect guys youre pretty retarded if you would rather buy crappy knockoff indy games than the truly original xbla minecraft first of all indy games get about 6 updates at the most in theyre lifetimes whereas minecraft is truly worked on by a team of real gamers who are devoted to minecraft totally all im saying is would ya rather buy the knockoff or the real thing

I kind of see Micecraft in the same way I see World of Warcraft. You can throw other MMO's at it, people will gravitate over to it, and possibly come back. Like throwing MMO's into a pit to only have it mauled to death by Warcraft. I think Minecraft will be arround a long time because of its simplisity and originality.
Back when this thread was made, Darth Smurf X linked to Major Nelson's blog for LIVE activity. MC ranked #2 overall, even beating out Black Ops. Now, here are those stats over a month later: http://majornelson.c...week-of-july-9/
In short, MC isn't going anywhere.
Fixed that for you. And that is such a coincidence, since I just happened to look at those numbers this morning to see Minecraft holding steady at #2. And STILL #1 in XBLA sales.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

My bad man! I just woke up and glossed over the first page Wasn't even looking at names.

Like with most games under constant development, a key question always tugs at the mind. How much longer will they work on this game?
Naturally, the answer is always another question: how long will it be profitable for the publishers?
DLCs are all the rage: it seems like for most major releases, you can expect 2-4 DLC packs to be released, especially for the RPG-type games.
Minecraft fills a very odd niche for being on XBLA. I've always loved games like (now I'm really gonna date myself) The Adventure Construction Set or the Bard's Tale Construction Set. I love creating worlds. Minecraft feeds that desire in a non-traditional way (you can't really CREATE the world, but you sure can sculpt it the way you want it to be). But as one game reviewer said of the constuction sets, they are the kind of fun that closely borders on work.
And while that appeals to me, and I assume most Minecraftsmen, I don't think that applies to most of the Xbox crowd. To the fast and fickle FPS-mavens and new trend jocks, Minecraft is an interesting anomaly, but nothing that they are going to be interested in re-visiting for a few new features.
That is more of a computer gamer phenomenon, to stick with a title and watch its evolution. And while MC:XBLA is a pretty solid port from PC to Console (which is usually a recipe for disaster), I think the Xbox crowd will lose interest fast and us diehards opening our wallets for expansions will be enough.
I see the typical shelf life: 3-4 patches/content expansions and then they're gonna abandon it.
The game had so many sells it wont die, especially since My friends and friends of friends and friends of friends are super addicted to minecraft and every friends list I look At I see at least 1-2 people playing on the xxbox version and everyone is talking about the 1.2.5 version and how much better the game will be with creative survival mix so then you can switch between anytime youd like...I really will love that to. So you can see it wont die for a pretty long while but every game even minecraft will eventually die.
I honestly can't see M$ archiving the entire XBLA library... Sure they may make another update that phases out pre-gensystem supported games, but not digital content. (RIP Halo 2)
I think that they should take the well made and better selling XBLA games and make them available on the next gen, or make it so you don't have to pay for an updated version. ( and I really hope 343i makes a Halo 2 anniversary)

Y U bring back old thread?!?
Kinda like how you were abandoned as a child? Don't relate your personal experiences to Minecraft,
