I was wondering about something. Is there a crafty method to automatically move items such as a box, cart, or items in the open from down below in the cave and all the way to the surface or , next floor? I thought maybe mine cart could be used for that, but it would need a slope of 45 degree angle which is much longer than up directly.
I admit I am new at this game. I just started playing when the 360 version came out. I am familiar with the game mechanics, but I don't know about various inventions that could be built as opposed to crafted.
You could always make a spiral minecart system that is done with powered and regular rails.
Great, that sounds like a cool solution. If I am the only player in the game is there a way to have the cart unload and return like by activating a device of sorts?

No, it has to be unloaded by a player. You could just make multiple Storage Minecarts adn send them up one after another, unload them when you get back, then take them back down mining with you.
If you're good with redstone you can rig up a system where the cart you're sending back up leaves the track and just waits in your storage area for you and before it leaves it hits a detector rail. The detector rail could send a signal to a storage cart pez dispenser to send another storage cart back down.
Even on the PC version there is no way to automatically store items without mods.
If I had Minecraft on the 360 I'd be willing to help set the system I just mentioned up. I've never done it. But I think I could get it done. It wouldn't be all that complicated. The only drawback of it really is that you'd have to reload the pez dispenser thing.
Actually. If you do it right you don't need the storage cart to completely leave the track. But by doing that you can make sure that you won't mess anything up by sending more than one cart up. You can just have a track that loops back to the pez dispenser with an unpowered rail to stop a cart. But you can't send a second cart until the first one is moved. Or unless you have a system set up that will make the second cart move to a different powered rail. Sort of like a train station. But that would be complicated.

I'm usually not trying to be rude. So if a post comes across that way then sorry :]

Thanks for the advice.
