So with the bug fix coming sometime soon, I am finding it hard to play right now. All this hard work, just going to be put on the back burner when the fix comes..... Knowing i am losing over 100 hours kinda pisses me off. Anyone else feeling this way? I'm surely not the only one?
i feel ya man, would be cool if somehow our worlds could be converted or something but oh well. I'm just waiting until the bug fix to continue playing.
Yeah, it totally sucks. I've invested so many hours into my world and now I have to start over... Well at least I'm better at building and mining this time around. Also idk about anyone else but I'm not going to make the same houses so I'm thinking of what to build in this new world.
This was my first go at MC and I've loved every minute of it... even the frustrating moments! I have learned a ton on my starter world and I know with the new update I can start over and erase some of the mistakes I've made. Oh well, my friends and I have put many, many hours in but we have learned from mistakes we've made at the begining and I'm actually excited to start a new world from scratch. I don't think theres anything like the first night... Good Luck!
I do not like knowing that I will have to do this again... and again... and again... after each release to be able to use all the new additions (clay, biomes, ravines, mineshafts, NPC villages, etc...).
Exploring will be fun, but mining all your stuff from scratch each time not-so-much. Being able to carry over diamonds, obsidian and other stuff to your new worlds would be helpful since that is sometimes a grind to find.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Clay is kinda pointless. I don't even use it in the PC version....
Finding minerals will be easier when we get the coordinates added - no need to dig to bedrock, just go to level 12 and dig. It's really easy to find diamond and you'll generally get enough iron on the way down for all the tools you'll need.
It really only takes about a good 20 minutes to get your basic materials gathered when you restart from scratch. There's no reason to bring it over, use /give or MCEdit it in.

20 Minutes?!!? The first diamond I found took several hours, which was several hours after I found obsidian for the first time. I almost leapt out of my seat when I finally saw the dialogue box pop up identifying it. And after many, many more hours playing, I still have only like 5 left after building a pick axe.

There are obvious exceptions and scenarios, but overall it's not that difficult to restart.
Step 1 is to grab some wood and start digging ASAP. You can dig straight down if you want - doesn't really matter, but you do run the risk of a death drop or lava bath. I usually 2x3 staircase downward. Once you hit level 12 (you should certainly have iron by then) you can build a crafting table and make a diamond pickaxe. Dig at level 12 in a straight line as far as you can. When you get bored, turn around and dig another tunnel 2 blocks to the side of the original.
You'll find a diamond relatively quickly and collect a ton of coal and iron in the process.
Edit: This is even easier after you have a coordinate display after the update, too.
On the PC it's even easier thanks to the prolific structures (mineshafts, ravines, etc) and random caverns.
Wait... so when they release the update, we will lose our current game?
If this is true, I do believe I am DONE with Minecraft. I've spent HOURS working on my rails, terminal, fort, house, and mining and I'll be damned if I do it again, just to lose it all again after each update.

When they add new terrain features to an update ie: new biomes, fixing clay so it spawns right, mineshafts etc it will require you to start a new world because the xbox version of minecraft generates the entire world at first creation. It isn't possible to add those features to an already existing world due to that. they aren't going to make your saved worlds go poof or anything. They will just be missign those features when they get added.
I definitely want to use Pistons, but until that update, I see no good reason to start all over just for clay!
Is there a way I can "reject" the update so they don't kill my Dupe glitch? LOL
Sorry my post was misleading, but to my understanding, you won't have to start a new world to use pistons (or any other crafting item). They will just be available to build. The ONLY reason for a restart is to change the shape of your world with the new world-altering additions I mentioned in my previous post.
And even then... maybe 4J will pull a fast one on us and just expand the current maps (just a tad) to include them.
Anyhoo... my current seed must just suck for diamond mining apparently.

Come on people! Why did so many people NOT see this coming, It's not a big deal, yea I'll admit It does suck! Think how much better the game will be!
BTW: I,m new to minecraft and did no research, And can tell you this will not be the last time we'll have to do this!!
But the game will get better!! (I hope)
P.S. I got a no life 20+ hour's on my world, so now I'm just experimenting on different build's. I was going to build a 55 or 60 diameter Sphere but will wait for the fix's.(already got a 40 diameter sphere ) And i never cheat or dupe, so I'm amazed every time i look around.
Anyhoo... my current seed must just suck for diamond mining apparently.
It's possible, but you should certainly be able to find more than 5 or 8 or whatever you said you found.
If I remember right.... there are an average of 3 per chunk. The important thing is to continue to the next chunk when you find diamonds. Sometimes, you'll get lucky and find like 7 right next to each other - that's rare, but not quite extraordinary lottery winner rare. You can also find them outside of level 12 - level 12 just seems to be the easiest.
Find a diamond, move 16 blocks in any other direction. Repeat.
On the PC version, you can find ravines that go pretty deep. You can just literally walk around looking for diamonds when that happens....
And yes, St0ned, I agree. For those of us who just want to build and create, it is awesome.
right, i could have duped it. but it takes five minutes to fill a double chest. it would have taken me two hours to get the clay i wanted... o well update is here... yay... legit world!

I don't need or even want Clay.
Because of this.
I definitely want to use Pistons, but until that update, I see no good reason to start all over just for clay!

People need to realize that not cheating make the build's so much Better!! IMO at least.
