Hey guys!
I have a question. Can the rails go up and down? I have it set up as I have it in the beginning, going up and down above land for a bit, then it goes straight down to my minning level. Once I get the Achievement, I will set up my mine, On the map as from what I can tell, it goes from the bottom end to 3/4 the way to the northmost end of the map. I keep adding tracks as I find iron. I am trying to get all the Achievements otherwise I woundn't be so obsessed with this. Help is appreciated!

Ah, Thanks! I was scared because I have used so much IRON and GOLD to get this. xD It is driving me insane. Also, finding one wolf every time I go out and search my entire world gets old too. The and the dog achievement. I already have everything else, including the unlockables.
I just go this achievement. I had to start over because I didn't have enough room to put more rail. Do some scouting with your map and try to go in the direction that the land goes the farthest. Bring 8 stacks of rail, place a powered rail every 8 or so. And then once you get the achievement, don't save so you get it all back!

Or if you're creative you can build towns and bridges and such around the rail way.
Yeah, I was wondering about this achievement as well, according to my handy, dandy calculator you will need around 6 stacks of iron to make that many standard rails. Not including powered ones though
Heh, I just used About 6 or 7 stacks of iron and one stack of gold but when I got the achievment I just quit without saving, I felt like I trolled minecraft.
