That's not the question... or the answer... or whatever.
The statement was that we should have a patch in 10 days because 4J said so. That's wrong - we can potentially have a patch tomorrow or two months from now, but it all depends on the certification process and when Microsoft chooses to launch it. There is no guarantee we get a patch in 10 days.

We're getting the patch, in less than 10 days. So I was right.
I honestly thought that a map limited to 1000 x 1000 blocks would be very restricted, but I like it... Maybe more so than the PC version. I know the PC version isn't unlimited, but surely 24,000,000+ blocks is a little too much play room?
I just dont like how you hit an invisble wall. I wish the world would just wrap around, wiith the invisible walls it very much feels like you're trapped in a box but in the PC version it very much feels like a world
I personally don't see the need for a bigger world, actually. I've been playing for about a month now. I've built a lot of stuff, and still, I have only developed a little postage stamp sized area on my map. As long as I have undeveloped territory, I will be happy.
I do believe it's an issue with memory space, not RAM
RAM. Random Access Memory. In other words, RAM is "memory space".
The Xbox 360 has 512mb of RAM to play with, which is actually shared with the video card.
It's not a lot to work with, and for a game like Minecraft which was developed on PC with basically no limits like this, converting it would most certainly be a challenge. Notwithstanding the complete rewrite in a different language, for a completely different architecture (PowerPC vs x86), and having to write it such that it will work on systems without a hard drive. Then add 4 player co-op and networking support (Xbox Live networking adding it's own challenges).
It would be nice if people would stop talking as if they know about things like console and even PC development when it's clear they don't actually know what they're talking about and what the challenges actually are.

the issue is with the save files. I do believe Microsoft has a limit on how big saves can be adn how big arcade games can be. Those two things probably helped in deciding the world size.
I think is strange they not take in consideration the various generated structures present and future when they decide to create the game and known they have the limit of ram and microsoft limit
My first concern was the generated structures.....
Here's my take:
1) We don't know that this is a permanent limit. Maybe they'll increase it?
2) Everything can be scaled down. Ravines and abandoned mineshafts on the PC can take up a hundred blocks on their own, not bothering to consider natural caverns, intersections of structures and Strongholds. They'll simply have to be smaller/fewer. :\ I mean, there's really not a reason to have 3 Strongholds on the PC version, anyway.....
Nether fortresses kind of bug me, too. I'm worried either my post 1.8 1024^2 Nether dimension is going to have a Nether Fortress with no Netherwart or I'm going to have an entire Nether paved in Netherbrick. It'll be interesting to see.
I prefer to have a larger map size in the pc version i have built something taking up almost 1,00 x 1,000 blocks honestly if you don't want a big world then don't walk out too far it's that simple. they should have an option for new worlds were you can pick world sizes

Considering the amount of testing that goes into a patch to assure it passes certification I don't see it failing.

If we're playing that game, I said we could potentially have a patch tomorrow or two months from now. So I was more right, I guess?

This thread bores me.
