I am making a farm on the larger side, at least for me. I planted about 14 seeds and they all worked fine. I then tilled the rest of the crop and waited for it to get saturated. Now the seeds just wont plant side by side. I don't really understand if I'm doing something wrong or what.
you have to make sure there is water atleast 2 blocks from wheat for it to grow, sugar cane must be next to water and cacti has to be on sand and can't be placed next to each other.

According to the wiki: "Wheat can only be planted on Farmland. Although seeds planted on hydrated farmland will grow faster than those on non-hydrated blocks, unhydrated farmland will still grow wheat eventually."
You can even plant wheat in the Nether.....
To be clear: sugar cane must be directly next to water. Cacti can't have *any* blocks near it (but you can place it above it).
I'm not really sure what it was, I know water will saturate up to 4 blocks in all directions. So I did that, first, but after wasting about 2 stacks of seeds frustration set in and I just started the cosmetics, i placed the glow stone down and it worked, maybe light is that big of a factor?
Some plants (sugar, cacti) have specific rules for adjacent blocks. I don't think wheat does....

you definitely cant plant wheat in the nether because you cant put water down in the nether. It just dries up immediatley.
Anyway, I think this is a bug because my friend was having the same problem. We still didnt fix it so hopefully it will be patched in the next update

Bring a block of dirt to the Nether. Use a hoe, plant the seeds, bone meal it. Works 100% fine.
It will even grow by itself if you wait a really, really long time.
