i've known for a while now that if another player passes their map to you, and you have no map then you can view their map, what i did not know is that it actually combines the maps.
for example if you explore the top half of the map, and a friend explores the bottom half, then if you were to drop the map and pick each others map up, both players would have a full map, pretty cool
also map size is a 54 chunk square, as in 864x862, not the assummed 64 chunk square 1024x1024
I recently found out about this just this past week and now I finish my map, sign in my guest, toss them my map toss it back and throw one map into a chest, leave my guest with a map out and walah! GPS at all times ;D
