If you don't use bonemeal, trees tend to grow pretty quickly. Usually about 1 or two Minecraft days. Sometimes they grow a lot faster. I usually keep a tree farm of 20-30 trees. By the time I am chopping the last tree, one of the first few I planted has already turned into a tree.
I've planted around 50 trees because I need around 110 stacks of wood..so getting that many bones would take a while.
Also when I'm done chopping down my last tree a few have grown again already so that's good. I just wanted to see how long I'd be at this haha.
