Well Im getting extremely agitated that in the xbox version its almost imposible to l-)ocate dungeons. Ive logged atleast 300 hours in my seed and no dungeons. I would turn my focus on my "glacier" seed but I have too many resources and tons of big built structures. I have mined out atleast 6-7 gigantic cave systems some of them even meeting. Been to bedrock on most of them and I didnt just go straight down. It would be nice if Mojang would atleast put a "placeholder" on the surface.. perhaps a lone torch or even a rock... I know its totally random but ive been all over my world tryed all biomes and without atleast one dungeon its a wasted seed.. very sad panda..
I've found 5 so far. All I do is dig towards the sound of Zombies & Spiders. Sometimes I find a dungeon, & sometimes i find only a cave.
Having to spend time finding them is all apart of the fun & survival of Minecraft.
I also find that looking for the monster sounds is the best way to find a dungeon. Also, if you have large areas of sand or gravel, dungeons near the surface are easy to find because the sand falls in around the dungeon.
Have a seed I've found six, with three of them grouped in a cluster; there's two connected together and another just 15 blocks down a narrow stone hallway. Dug a staircase up randomly from there and found two more in a connecting tunnel I dug into. And later, one in an entirely different dig site across the map.
I have to reiderate what all the above have said. Liston for mob noises! That's how I find all my dungeons. Have found about 7+. Or helps with turtle beaches!

I'm having the same problem; after dozens of seeds, I've found only two dungeons, ever. I hear a lot of daytime mob emits, though, so I'll try some digging around. Are dungeons usually only slightly below sea level?
