i'm surprised he can join his friends world if he is a silver account becuase you need gold to even play online

I have a Silver account, and I got on said friends world, but when trying to make my game online, it fails.

by "xbox live free" do you mean that you have gold or no? because that makes all the difference. If you dont have gold then you cant play on xbl, simple as that.
BUT, there is one more thing. If you DO in fact have gold, one of the reasons why you might not be able to "check" the online box while making your world could be because you have another profile that DOES NOT have gold signed in.

Free trial maybe? I didn't hear anything about it but I think call of duty has done something similar in the past, a "Silver" weekend. That is weird though that you could and now you can't

Nope. I bought the game on mybday, the 4th. Then I made a server on the fifth.

New accounts are given 1 Free month of Xbox live but they are still considered Silver accounts.

Sounds like you may have accidently gotten access to Gold features, Microsoft found out, and took it away.

U guys should know this by now! Even if u don't have gold, but ur friend does, and they do online game but not invite only, their world will show up in the join tab. If they invite u, u won't be able to join without gold. And without gold, u won't be able to access online game features in your own world. But it's weird, cause I have two friends, one a Xbox 360 user like me who can't even access his Xbox live account which isn't gold, and another who has Xbox one but his gold expired, and they both can use online game but I don't have gold and am unable to. Why is this? Pls tell me somebody I need to know
