Does anyone know good ways to find slimes? I want to gather slime balls for the 1.7 update so i can make sticky pistons, but I can't find them anywhere.
Branch mine at layer 10 or so. I mean really branch mine. Then, when you get lucky enough to find 1 slime, clear out a huge area where you spotted it. Slime spawning chunks are sporadic, but usually there are three or four of them grouped together. I'm working on my third stack of slimeballs now, and I've only gone down there a few times.
Not rare just random ...old farming methods dont work...just get in 16 or under hand light it up clear out all above etc 36+ slime balls the second day the game was out
I'm playing seed 888, and have recently encountered the largest slimes I've seen since I started playing MC:XBLA. I made a shaft down to bedrock, then went back up to 13 blocks above that to branch mine for diamonds. After opening grids in 3 directions of 10 shafts, 2blocks high, 100 blocks long, each shaft two blocks apart, I opened a huge cavern system that went in an upward direction. Of course I exploered the caverns to their limits, and took quite a heavy damage toll because I was outfitted to mine and not fight. ( weak armor and hardly any health items.) As I returned to the bottom with my loot, I heard a sound I've not heard before. It was two MASSIVE slime cubes that were 3x3 on each side. Even a diamond sword couldn't save me. The weird thing is, I raced back to my death spot to claim my loot, and got it back with two slime balls. I have no idea what killed they slimes, but it wasn't me.

egg roll need help on a slime farm again im on 2 chunks right next to each other and have it all lit up with glowstone and still nothing has spawned i really need help

This thread bores me.
I mined it 3 high.
Place torches or glowstone around your slime farm, just don't place torches on the ground. Slimes spawn in lit areas.
You could have the glowstone setup like this: As a result, all the work will be worth it
Layer 12, you could go lower but I wanted to avoid going too deep.

Retired StaffThey spawn in specific chunks randomly generated from when you start your world known as slime chunks. They dont spawn anywhere down the bottom.
