JMHO but, it already does. Anyone joining a friends game is in fact playing on a server. Lots of worlds exist on 24/7 hosted worlds. If your Xbox is ON and allowing people to join, You are running a server...... I am probably wrong.

This is correct... but a rented server (ala BF3) is running 24/7 without the owner's box needing to be on, without the owner needing to be running the game... What if I (as host) decide I want to watch some Netflix and then go to bed, but my 5 friends want to pull an "all nighter"?

Then it sucks to be them?
They probably won't ever do rented servers.

Yep. That doesn't mean it won't happen... take a look at all the privately rented servers in Battlefield 3.
