So, for the past couple of days I have read how people are wanting skins, mods, and texture packs. That's fine and dandy, BUT if 4J releases it as DLC they will have to charge Microsoft points for the content.
Meaning, if you want a skin you will have to pay for it.
I was thinking about this, and I think that instead of making it DLC, they should just implement it into the game.
By this I mean - They update the title screen to add a "Player Skins" tab. They have a poll for the top 20 skins (numbers vary) and they put them in the xbox version of Minecraft. Lets say you don't like the skins they upload, how about every update they add more skins?
This could also be done with texture packs, and even mods if they wanted to.
The downside is maybe it would restrict other things from being added into the game (I'm not sure of xbox policy for the restrictions of memory and file size allowed by an arcade game.) Also some people may not like the skins they add...
All in all, I believe this is better then paying money for things that should be free anyway.
I haven't read any threads about this way of making skins, mods, and texture packs available so I thought I would share it.
I have seen either 4JSteve or 4JStu say that skins will be DLC. They've also said that before that happens, you will be able to choose which of the 8 pre-made skins you can play as in single and multiplayer.
I'm pretty sure Microsoft will not let them put out free skins. They have already made consessions on allowing all of the content heavy title updates to be free.
Skins should be free if you ask me, or 10+ Microsoft™ points. Texturepacks should cost somewhere at 80 - 150 Microsoft™ points. Mods cost should depend on what mod it is.
xbox live has tonz of free dlc notch would be foolish to charge people for skins when on the pc they can paint their own

The decision has nothing to do with Notch. It has to do with Microsoft. If things like skins weren't covered in their original agreement of bringing Minecraft to the Xbox 360, then Microsoft can do whatever they want and that means, charging for them.

There's so much wrong with this statement I'm not even sure where to start.
First of all; Notch doesn't even work on the PC version anymore, let alone the Xbox version. Jeb works on the PC version, 4J Studios works on the Xbox version.
Secondly; It would be because of Microsoft that Xbox players could not have free content (skins, texture packs, mods.) So, go complain to them.
Edit: Welp, looks I've been beaten by McAngus up there. Both explanations still apply though.
I personally think that skins and texture packs should both be free. I don't play MC360, but it's unfair on Xbox users if they have to pay even more for stuff that we PC Gamers get for free
They also could just put in a skin editor like they have on the iPod and put it in the game and you could just share skins with he people you are friends with on XBL. Even though that would be difficult it would be better. Plus they could put new bases that you could use and edit
It would be cool if you could import your pc account to xbox version so you can use your pc skin. Also would be cool to import texture packs to 360 through a flash drive (this would be supported, of course) and mods as dlc

4J has already said here on the foums that Skins will not be done with a flash drive or anything similar. They said it will most likely be some form of DLC. Does that mean it will cost money? Not really, but knowing Microsoft, maybe.
Has 4J even said were going to be charged? Mass Effect 3 has had 2 seperate DLCs containing weapons, characters, and maps....ALL FOR FREE. So if ME3 can do stuff for free, then i don't see why minecraft would have to.

I was reading a thread about the next update release date. I believe it said that 4J made a deal, updates and patches will be free, but DLC will not be free. I will try to get the link.

They should just release it on disc then. I'm sure it's made them enough money by now to put it out in stores.
