1) I mined a bookshelf with my hands and it disappeared- wondering if this is typical or a bug? Does a specific tool save it? It broke pretty quickly, so that's what gets me... I have found that when you use the wrong tool, particularly on crafted items, they seem to take a while to break, right?
2) Can flowers be planted on anything other than dirt? I would like to have some flowers on my "end tables" but hate that I have to have a clump of dirt in my house. I haven't played the PC version, but is there by chance there's a vase or something I can craft in later updates? Anything?
3) When speaking of future updates I hear a lot about bigger map sizes. Is this applicable only to new/certain seeds or would it be across the board? As a newb, I am more comfortable with the smaller maps and would like to see the option to choose the size of your world- any possibility of this being an option?
4) Does sugar cane, flowers, grass, mushrooms, etc. grow back over time?
1) No, you don't get it back. Some things, like glass, just disappear when you break (mine) them. Some things, like coal or iron ore, can only be mined with a certain level of pickaxe or it will just break and you don't get the item. (Hint: find iron and make iron tools asap).
2) Flowers on dirt only. There's no "vase".
3) I don't mind the "smaller" map size either. It's plenty big enough. But IF the map size is expanded I'd think you'd have to start a new world as the current one is already completely generated. I doubt you'd get the option to pick the size of your world- it really wouldn't serve any purpose. Just don't go beyond where you want or need to.
4) They all grow back, (grass expands) except for sugar cane. It will regrow, but won't "expand" beyond it's original placement on the map, and if you cut the whole thing down it won't grow back. You can, however, cut the tops off and plant them elsewhere creating a "sugar cane farm". http://www.minecraft...wiki/Sugar_Cane
5) Depends on which "update" you're talking about. The next one out is a "bug fix" only, probably pretty shortly. The next one is a real "update" (to 1.7) and that will probably be in July.
