With all these new things being added to the game , like Nether Fortresses, Brewing, and End Portals. These new things are leaving old worlds to die with no new resources and items. There should be a thing to fix this. When the game updates, old worlds should have an option to be converted with the new things like Nether Bricks and blaze men spawners being on the map. They would be generated in an unexplored area or an area that has no blocks that have been placed by a player in a certain radius. This would allow player to still experience the full game, but not needing to make a new world and lose days or even months of progress. This is a very big problem in the 360 edition, with it being such an old version. I've been playing on a world for around 2-3 days of game-play and I want to be able to have watermelons. This would work with an update that made the maps bigger, considering they're so limited in the 360 edition.
TL;DR: The game should have something that converts the world after a new update, adding the new things that have been introduced into the game. (For example watermelons in the 360 edition.)
Unfortunately this is not possible. The game is not like PC where the map generates more as you explore. The Xbox edition generates the entire map when you first create it, so even unexplored areas are already generated.
Everything I build is a learning experience, so everything I build is better than the last. Will it suck on a sentimental level leaving a lot of creations behind? Sure, but it's not like you have to delete them. They're still there if you want to revisit them or remake them in a new game. Every world is better than the one before it, though, and I bet you'll find yourself devoting even more time to making cool villages because you'll have a blank slate and cleaner concepts.
I mean, it's not like the building process isn't the fun part anyway. Pretty much everybody loves the creation aspect, so I don't see the big deal.
So when the xbox updates my worlds will no longer be playable as the new stuff will be missing from that world?
Yes, they'll be "playable".
There's 2 kinds of updates: terrain and non-terrain.
When the updates comes, will your world now have rivers and jungles? No. If you want the new, "upgraded" terrain then you need to start a new world. You can still play the old one as it is now.
Will your existing world have the new non-terrain things like endermen, melon seeds, silverfish, enchanting, etc.? Yes. Those things can just be added to existing worlds because they don't need to replace terrain that's already made (including the stuff you built).
When I first heard this I was bit miffed. Now I just accept it. Like one of the replies. "use it as a learning experience"
I often go back to my old CM map for dimensions, and use it on MC. When 1.8 comes I'll simply rebuild. from my existing MC map. So till then I would invest too much time building.
