Curious: I placed TNT in a spot I didn't mean to place it. And if I hit it....well you know.
So how can I get rid of it without everything blowing up? Because right now I have a ring of TNT stretching around the perimeter of my map, and if one goes off.....I'm screwed!
(Sorry if that's not possible, I don't know what the 360 version has)
This. It's faster than trying to pick through a bunch of obsidian.
You should place water around it - not necessarily on top of it.
The water will prevent nearby blocks from being destroyed. Experiment - you can always quit without saving and reload if it goes south.

Sounds good. Yeah, I did save right before. I noticed that the TNT block drops when you hit it, so I'll dig a ditch underneath it and let it fall more than 5 blocks from the rest of them.
If it isn't in a horrible spot (i.e. next to a chest or other important items) i would just let it explode and then rebuild the damage. otherwise dig a 3x3 around the tnt
and all damage should be absorbed.

You don't even really need that much water..... But that looks pretty good!

That sounds pretty good, too. Put a couple of blocks with a water block inside to reduce the blast.
TNT doesn't become physics enabled (it won't fall, won't be launched by other TNT, etc) until it's primed and flashing. You can definitely dig up to it, give it a punch and let it fall.

Xbox 360 GT: ranman08332
Punching it won't set it off anymore.

Wrong version. This is 1.6.6 on the Xbox - punching it will set it off.
In newer versions it would have to be ignited with Flint or redstone.
