Well lets look on the obvious side... If you're hosting a minecraft of course you won't be lagging. But the second your friend(s) join they will start lagging/disconnecting.
I have an old arcade xbox with a wireless internet. I get good speeds but my friends inevitably still lag. It didn't happen until the game kept updating. After the tu8 update (maybe before that) my friends would disconnect. So, I joined there game (we live very close to each other)and I lagged which sucked. Needless to say the game will have lag, sometimes bad or not that bad :/.
Most of u r wrong, this can be caused by lots of lava being placed, redstone creations including over 2 stacks of redstone, and if you've been on the server for a while ( 1hour-3hours )
