im sorta a noob (not total noob i just dont know ADVANCED stuff) wtf are BUDS
BUDS is something created by a MineCrafter. It stands for Block Update Detector Switch. Basically, blocks in MineCraft are signalled to be updated during certain events - grass growing, sun hitting it, a player standing on it, etc. The update can signal adjacent blocks to update as well, which can be detected by some redstone to trigger other events. This is how a lot of people make auto-farms now - the BUDS detects the sugar/wheat/whatever growing (an update occurs) that triggers the BUDS, BUDS trigger pistons, pistons cut the sugar/wheat/whatever, the whole thing resets and waits.
Thanks.
So while it seems to work, the boat won't friggin' stay in place.

Anyway, youtube it for more info.
Thanks. I was specifically interested in grass for a day/night sensor. I'm not sure if this bug/feature made it over. It's really handy.
