I read you can grow em on a farm but I haven't tried. That could be wrong. Only real reason to have em that I know of is to make soup, but the plentiful pork chop supply seems to make cooking food kind of a waste of time and effort.
I think the roses and dandelions regenerate. I thought I collected every one of em in my world but seems like they've come back.
What I'm supposed to do with a full chest of stacks of dandelion yellow, I have no idea.
The mushrooms definitly spread. My friend started a red mushroom farm underground and there are literally over a thousand mushrooms now. One on every square for as far as you can see. Looks really cool.
Yes they do, quite prolifically if grown right. Low lighting (not dark), just use low ceilings and recessed lighting. My friend has a farm on our world and we have more mushrooms than you can imagine. I prefer mushroom stew because
A - you can carry more than un-stackable chops on long expeditions ( stack of each mushroom + bowl)
B - I'm a vegetarian
So as far lighting goes to farm these shrooms, do I place one torch on the opposite corner of where I put the shrooms? Screen shot of lighting would be appreciated. not sure if the one from above is correct.
Minimal lighting is all you need. One torch in each corner of the room is plenty. I have a 24m by 24m mushroom farm lit with only 4 torches and they spread like crazy. Keep in mind that the optimal spacing is one center shroom surrounded by 6 empty blocks because they spread to empty adjacent blocks.
Dirt is not necessary but to keep things orderly I do center blocks out of cobblestone and the rest of the floor dirt so that i know where to replant if I get crazy with the hoe.

The wiki says 3 blocks above the mushrooms is enough. So if you have an area that is two blocks high, knock one out of the ceiling and place a torch up there.
i found about 2 or 3 mushrooms in the wild but as soon as I went into the nether and turned around they were everywhere. it's a shame I can't go back cause the game crashes when I try to go back into the real world. thanks for the tips by the way!

Maybe not a thousand but hundreds and hundreds.
They don't need water, and don't need light.

Win.
Win. My friends make fun of me because virtual pigs aren't real pigs......

Like so:
b=empty block, m = mushroom
