I am a fairly new minecraft player but I have the basics down. I've been making obsidian so far by bringing lava up in buckets, and dumping it in the ocean next to my house, then mining it and placing it where I want it. I wanted to make the entire 24x48 block area around my buildings obsidian, so I thought an easier way to do it is flood the area then drop the lava right where I want it so I don't have to mine and move it.
The problem is when I drop the lava there, it just disappears. My bucket looks empty but as soon as I move it in inventory it fills up again. Sometimes an obsidian block will even appear for a second, but then it will disappear and I'll get the lava back. Some of the water is standing and some is running, doesn't matter I tried both. Then I can move 10 blocks away to the inlet where I was making the obsidian before and it works completely fine.
Is there a glitch with it, and if so is there any good way to fix it? I'd rather not mine over a thousand pieces of obsidian when what I am doing now should work fine.
