I'm pretty sure that on this update you need to be where the X and Y axis meet on the map to find the clay
but I'm not sure how to find out where they meet ...? Help appreciated.
You can't. There is no way to see your coordinates at this time in the Xbox version. Seeing as how clay only generates in and around water, just look there.
It will be more common after the update because they are fixing the bug that causes clay to be so rare.
Yes, in Minecraft 1.6.6, your X and Y co-ordinates have to be the same. This was a bug in Minecraft 1.6.6 PC.
Since there is no legitimate way of seeing your co-ordinates, it is quite difficult to find clay.
so clay is the exact center of the world?
and it extends out wards diagonally in four directions?
if this is true then the first clay you find will lead you too tons more
Poopoo Choochoo Train as a map seed (no jokes) search around the spawn area in the sand near the water almost like a sandbar. There is guaranteed to be 2 blocks of clay. Use the dupe glitch (only because of the rarity of clay ATM) and your good to go. Check out YouTube search "clay minecraft xbox" you will find the video. Cheers everyone.
I found 4 blocks in the seed Quesadila not far from spawn. It's on the side of a sandy cliff right above water (not the crazy looking thing at the spawn)
I am pissed that we will have to start a new world just to use clay if our map doesn't already have it. And to use pistons. 1.8 better come out and add creative soon after 1.7.3
The bad news though is that it's going to be July until we can get enough clay to start building decent brick block structures.
I'm pretty sure they stated they're fixing clay generation in the patch that's coming in about a week or so. They're also fixing some other issues with saving, dupe glitch, etc...In the meantime use seed 888. There's some clay and a monster spawner at the starting spawn.
Also there is a possibility to find clay on the map you already made when the update comes out as long as you have some ungenerated terrain i.e: Your map isn't completely explored.
Cordnates are in the game its just that they don't show
Your map that you spawn with is infct your world size so just draw some graph lines on it and use the bits as cordnates. You can use that to find cordnates. Did it and found some clay.
So if the "Y" coordinate is actually the z-axis (height), then what is the "X" coordinate? Since north is the left edge as you look at your inventory map, would the x-axis be the bottom edge of the map? And would it x=0 be the left edge and x=1000 be the right edge?
This is my assumption but it may be wrong. So for surface spawning, Y=64 (or did I read sea level is actually Y=62 somewhere?) and thus X must also equal 64. So we need to be looking along a 1000-block long line from the bottom of the map to the top of the map 64 blocks in from the left edge? Is this correct? 64/1000 = about 6.4% of the way across the map (not very far obv).
I have very few water areas along this line in my map, unfortunately. Haven't found any clay, but since i've never even seen what it looks like, I may have even missed it. I read it looks just like gravel only with gray instead of reddish. Easy to miss it or mistake it for gravel underwater.
Clay currently only spawns under certain requirements on an equal X and Z axis.
Easiest way to do this currently is to go from the bottom the Bottom right of the Map to the top left going diagonally across each block.
