I've heard that on the pc, they updated it to the point where you couldn't type in map seeds anymore. If this happens on xbox (which it most likely will) would I have to start over and not be able to use my current map seed?

Map seeds still exist. I was on minecaft pc version like 5 mins ago and made a new world.

What happened was they Changed the algoritim example. Happy in PC makes a Diffrent Seed than Happy on PC i wish there was a You tube Vid that i could link to to show you the Diffrence.

Btw" The Three Stooges" is a Great Seed

So I will be able to keep using the seed I'm using right now even if they increase map sizes.

I think you should be able to, however starting a new world after the update and entering the same map seed will generate a different world from the one you're using now. Starting a new map would be a necessity to utilize the full 1.8.2 or 1.7.3 updates though.

It should still be somewhat similar though, right?

No, it won't be. The terrain generation of 1.7.3 is completely different. It will then change again when they update the game to 1.8.2.

Oh well. Hopefully the map seed will still be pretty cool even though it will be completely different.
