One of the great things about this game is being able to change the difficulty each time you play. I'm constantly switching it up, depending on who I'm playing with, what I'm doing, etc. I voted for Peaceful though because I'd say more often I find myself looking to relax and focus on building. It's also a pain when you're constructing and a creeper comes out of nowhere and explodes with no warning, as was mentioned earlier in this thread.
Yea what is with that armour durability? Full set of diamond lasted me about 15 minutes in the nether.
Back on topic though, I play normal. I usually run about without armour on at the minute, (as I have a stack of food and only a sword and bow on my hotbar unless I'm cave exploring, so the rest I can fill up with food) and so I wouldn't be sure how many skeleton arrows would kill me on hard. I'm guessing it would be like, 2.
Does hard change the amount of monsters that spawn, as well as the strength of them?
I don't think Hard makes hostile mobs spawn more but it definitely ups there damage by a lot. A skeleton could kill you in 3 hits, and a Creeper could kill you in a single hit if it's close enough.
Also, I don't remember if this applies to Beta 1.6.6 or not but on Hard, Creepers don't stop exploding as easily. It requires a greater distance from the player to the Creeper to stop them from blowing up on Hard.
I think playing on hard keeps the game much more interesting. It keeps the fear in me when entering caves and makes me worry when night approaches, and when I do finally accomplish something, such as live through the night and see the first tiny little pixel sliver of the sun I simply get ecstatic. I will not lie though I do switch to peaceful if I am trying to build something very large.
Hard. I never played Minecraft on anything else unless on other servers/xboxs. I love the first night scramble on hard trying to find a decent hidey hole... or losing track of time and relizing your out of wood and coal.
I still try to do everything I can to avoid Mobs (Barricade my 'city', light every inch of my playing field, compleatly light caves first before resource hunting, sleep as soon as possible).
The only downside - All my friends played in my world for about 15 mins until nightfall and when the ground looked like swiss cheese they left and never returned
Peaceful the other 10%. Mainly for collecting glowstone and soul sand in the nether, which I'm pretty much done with now. Only other time I use peaceful is when I'm building stuff like a great big switching contraption for my rail network. Just too damn frustrating dealing with mobs while I'm getting all confused with my messy complicated redstone wiring and stuff.
I play on Hard, I've never died, I don't even use tools, I've killed so many mobs they can't even spawn anymore, I've punced though every block in my world, Even the Bedrock, When I play Minecraft I just click the right-stick as I fall into the void! Ugghhh! MOM! Where's my protein shake?!
I always start on easy ( I know I'm a wuss ) and changed from time to time to normal and peaceful depending on what I'm doing lol haven't tried hard yet I don't think.

-This is the xbox 360 edition forum
-The xbox 360 edition doesn't have hardcore yet
-Therefore it's obviously not on the poll
-herp derp
Easy for me. Would be Peaceful but I like at least SOME enemies and danger.
