Yeah, It was to be assumed before, but it was confirmed during the stream that if there is no clay in your world that you will have to start anew. Sorry
Im hoping for a world size increase in the next patch, then we could be able to actually get clay. The way I think it should happen is the game updates and the world that you are currently on will be an island in a lake that is surrounded by new world.

I would love more than just the desert and grassland biome I have right now but unless they plan on expanding the map a little more while being able to convert your current map. I could care less about what they add. I've worked too much on my current map to swap to something else. And if it never happens then oh well, I'll continue to expand until that 1000x1000 map is full of detailed cities/castles I guess lol. I'll definitely use it to its full potential before I go to another map.

My thoughts exactly even though my biome only has snow and frozen ice.
I don't think there's any way for them to make new clay spawn in an already generated world.
You could start another world using the same seed and get the new clay I think. But you still lose all your stuff.
Nope!
After the update you will beable to use the old world. How? You know how at the edge of the world there is a huge bottomless water place? They put that there so it will generate new terrain. Luckily, you can keep your world... or I could be wrong and it is just there to **** with us.
Hello darkness, my old friend I've come to talk with you again because a vision softly creeping left its seeds while I was sleeping and the vision that was planted in my brain still remains within the sound of silence
Nope!

4J has said that the world size is going to stay what it is.
They aren't completely ruling out making them bigger, but they have to find ways to make them bigger. As of right now, and the near future, maps will remain 1024x1024.
Or it could be me taking wrong in how the different versions work.
Well, looks like I'm swimmed. I've already explored my entire world...
Looks like I won't be needing that empty chest I've been keeping, marked 'Clay' =(
Well, what if I've already uncovered all of the map?
Then you have to start a new world sadly.

Sorry to hear. Do hope you have luck with you in your next world, if you choose to make one.
Terrain in 1.6.6 sucks. 1.7.3 is much more interesting.
I'm not starting a new world. I have around 150 hours in my current one. Definitely not just going to throw it away for some clay.
