try out endermen it's almost barren at the beginning with a lot of snow. but there are spruce forests and caves not too far from spawn. I have yet to really explore it though..
I tried out a couple seeds the first one is: woledore Very mountainous in the small area I explored alot of wolves scattered around and lot of sheep as well. I havent gone in to much caves but there is one that is pretty big right beside a pond near the middle. Also very foresty.
The next one I tried was: canada it is very mountainnous with a couple of lava ponds on the surface. I havent explored this one alot but there was at least 6 caves I went by.
The last one i tried was called: strangeland im currently exploring but its a huge ocean map. i found a master roshi like island in the middle of the ocean and plenty of clay
I started an account just to share this awesome seed I discovered last night. It has lots of mountains and valleys. Up North a lake sits at the base of two giant mountains covered in forests. Lots of huge natural caves as well. Found it by putting in 112233445566778899 as the seed.
allyourbasesarebelongtome is a decent seed, there is a zombie dungeon close to spawn that is buried in sand, there are two chests which have quite a few goodies including 3 saddles and a bucket. worth checking out.
Jeepers Creepers opens up to a desert beach but in the surrounding area there are cliffs and huge mountains above cloud level. It also seems to be a buggy map as a zombie spawned inside of my house that was well lit, killed me, and then I couldn't respawn there even though I had slept in my bed a couple times.
Hey, all. I just found another seed that I would classify as legendary. To the east is a large group of spires, overhangs, land bridges, and caves that were pretty awesome. I also found part of a sand island that sinks into the ocean if you dig into it, a handful of cliff dive spots, and tons of clay.
I am currently designing Razorcliff, an adventure map for some server friends to play. I was looking for a map that could work without having to terraform the entire thing. I needed a map that A.) had a nearly linear path to it, with a few branch offs, B.) had a large mountain in it without the entire map being too mountainous, and C.) had at least 30-40% water, and D.) plentiful resources available without branch mining the entire underground. After checking a few random seeds without success, I tried the ANGELIKMAYHEM method of seed scouting (love your blog, man), and start typing names in. I decided to start with the name of the adventure itself, typing in Razorcliffseaside.
Jackpot, first shot out of the cannon.
You spawn on a large central desert island close to the mainland, which brackets the left and bottom sides of the map. The land has several visually interesting areas of broken flat land, plenty of short cut caves, a few deep chasms, sunken lakes, a tremendous flat area on the left side of the map ideal for building a large town/city, a few smaller naturally flat areas within the hills for secluded villages, and some pretty interesting terrain variation. A single tiny distant island in the top right corner is an ideal place for a remote prison or secret base. A few other small islands are close enough to reach without submerging, and can even be easily bridged.
There are several caves that sprawl across the underground, some reaching half way across the map, and resources are plentiful without much blind digging. In the caverns below the desert are several stalagmites of sandstone supporting sand, so some well placed TNT could produce a spectacular sinkhole effect if done correctly.
There was enough clay for me to build an entire three story Inn out of brick (well, with a cobble roof).
There are three main mountain areas. The largest mountain, which dominates the skyline almost visible from the initial spawn, has very low overhangs ideal for secret entrances, sheer cliff faces, and several spires ringing it. The terrain naturally lends itself to linear path making, if that's what you're looking for.
The best part? I was worried about challenging the party. I need not have worried. In the almost 2 weeks I have been on this seed, I have found five dungeons, three of which are either at or just below sea level with no digging, with a fourth just below one of them, ideal for an Etho-style mob elevator. The fifth and deepest of the dungeons is almost directly below the spawn point, allowing the party to get situated for a little before the mob elevator begins bringing mobs to the surface to ambush them!
I am going to scout this seed again after the update, and if it doesn't change much, this is an IDEAL adventure map choice.
After I saved it, the seed converted to numerical value, which is: 794745460.
If you're looking for tremendous mountain ranges, lush, dense forests, and high land bridges, this map is not for you, but it is a builder's paradise!
EDIT: I was digging a hex tunnel and I found a diamond, and didn't think much of it, I just dug it up and replaced it with gravel. After a minute or so of continuing down, I realized I still hadn't hit bedrock yet, so I went back to where the diamond was and checked my map. Y=19! I thought the ceiling was 16.
If you go to X = -311, Z= 143 and dig down until you reach 20, then start to carefully excavate the area, you should find the diamond around there.
I Iooked through these and I've been trying to find a seed that has
mountains around a huge lake but I had no luck finding one so far..
My boyfriend had a seed that did that but he accidently deleted the world..
Anyone know of any?
I believe I do yes. Try the seed eggmilf, its a good one and popular right now.
I do not remember which it is but I have two coordinates that I wrote down for a lake or body of water. One is open and the other surrounded by good sized mountains.
x: -356 y:273
x: 116 y:-16
Again I forgot which is which so search for both. One did have good surrounding mountains since I wanted to use that area for a survival location on the lake itself.
This seed starts you fairly close to a lava pool that can be seen as a red dot near the center of the map.
The large northern part of the map consists of massive mountains that touch the sky and then shear off sharply at the top of the map.
So far I have found 3 lava flows, one of which is twinned with a waterfall by a small lake. My map marker is at the lava/waterfall spot in the screenshot. A perfect place to build a house.
I also ran across a scattering of pumpkins, a cave of mushrooms and deep valleys. To the south the land breaks up and becomes a bit flatter, pocketed by holes and tunnels.
Snow, desert, mountains and forest. It's worth a look.
... I tried the ANGELIKMAYHEM method of seed scouting (love your blog, man), ...
Ah, the Mayhem Method. The title of my autobiography and also a great way to make julienne fries!
Clear your schedules, people: this is a big one.

Ootachi (386399159) I explored the entire map just looking around and liked what i saw. There is a fair bit of mountains in the center, easy to climb for the most part that rolls into plains to the north west and eventually turns into a decent sized snowy region without trees. The pine is a bit further east of that in a very tiny/small bit almost surrounded by water. all land mass is connected somehow. There is a small desert to the north east having it's on island however some of that island is snowy. Also on the west side of that island is what i call a good quarry to mine as most of it is semi flat but most the coal/iron/stone is on the surface in that area. The reason i like this map is due fact it has it all, including a couple fair sized areas if i wanted to do an underwater bit, but this is mostly more land though.

I'd agree with you 100% there.
Why not just organise the seeds into 1.6/1.7/1.8 ect. No need to create another seed thread. One is enough.
oh and there is 2 spawners on that seed i have found.
