i have a great seed and it is called stuff. i typed it in and it was an epic mountain range with tons of resources. plus. the mountains are so high you walk through clouds
The map seed Jazzytopia has a gaint mountain with a hole in it making the top a huge land brigde, with a pillar holding it up, and a large floating island very close to it. This is around x:158, y:72, z:0. There are pumpkins in the top right landmass of the map. There are multiple (around 5) lava lakes around the map. In the bottom left corner of the map there is an island with huge mountains with expansive caves going through them, and many waterfalls. At the back of this island there is also a cave behind a waterfall (at base of ocean) which has a dungen in it. I think a dungen behind a water fall is cool, and the mountains, and floating island also add to this map. There is also a surface dungen at the bottom of the map near the bottom left island (its on a beach). There are also lots of cool caves, a several huge chasmlike caves, and lots of other cool terrain and views. The origional spawn seems to be random, but im not sure. I hope this map is added and enjoyed as it is one of my favorites.
So here is what happens. Every world you create in Minecraft has a seed. It's a starting point for the game to begin generating (growing) the environment (hence the name). When you create a new world you have the option to enter in a seed name or leave it blank.
If you leave it blank the game will still need a seed (a starting point for world creation) so it makes one up for you. On the PC the game uses the system date and I assume on the Xbox works in a similar fashion.
If you enter in a word or phrase the game converts it into a number value for it's seed generation. The conversion is always the same which in turn means the world it creates will be the same. So if you create a world with the word "Keirannn" and then created a second world with the same word, both worlds will be exactly the same.
This makes sharing those worlds with your friends easy, as well as starting new worlds using the same environment (if you really liked it).
The actual seed name has nothing to do with the world it will create. Using the seed "snow" will not guarantee you a snowy world for example. Also seeds are case sensitive. If you create one world using "Keirannn" and another world using "keirannn" they would be different as the number value for a capital K isn't the same as a lowercase K. Spaces also count so a seed called "the cat in the hat" would look different than the seed "thecatinthehat"
What some people will do it put in a random word or phrase, then they will explore the world. If the world seems cool to them, then they will share it with others.
Hope that helps.
Hey good job explaining that. And you kept it quite simple I would have gone on a tangent explaining how the fractal generation works!
I am going to ask for all of us, anyone got a survival Island seed yet?

The redstone is coming, you just have to find it now. Redstone Glory
I tried one of the seeds suggested, the 10111010 or something like that and I found a lot of clay there. I didn't like the fact that there's lots of sand (Around %45 of the map) but that's just me.
Question, though: When we get the update with the patch for clay generation, is it going to fix our already existing worlds where we have built and mined stuff or is it just gonna fix any new worlds generated from that point on?
I really like the seed Notch. It has a bit of clay (I've found 4-5 patches of it so far, usually on islands), reeds, cacti, a few pumpkins, and both types of mushroom. It also has large cave systems with large amounts of resources. I've found two dungeons in those caves so far. Plus, you start near a huge grassland area which is great for building large structures. The only thing I haven't seen are snow biomes or jungle biomes.
This is a perfect seed for having 8 different islands right in the middle so that each person on a server can have there own island. Didn't explore the whole thing but at a quick glance it looked like it had all the essentials...that being cacti, pumpkins, clay, etc

Great seed that has you spawn next to a ncp village that has one diamond 8 obsidian 1 iron sword 1 iron pickaxe and theirs a surface zombies mob spawner that has saddles and theirs some pumpkins nearby as well.
Hey, I started playing Minecraft a while ago and I have found an awesome seed: hellultimatemodes
You spawn in the woods but this particular wood is filled with tones of wolves... and by tones I mean over 50 wolves, 56 is the number I had tamed in the 20 minutes i played the world (I spawned bones) but it looks to be a really good seed! - Will post pics soon
This is a very epic seed floating masses, snowing mountain tops, deserts, above ground spawner. Pretty much everything you want in a map waterfalls lava falls. Clay up the Yong Yang I have 20 stacks right now just passed up another ten just to leave some for my friends.
Oh on morething over hangs and floating mountains good spot for mushroom garden.
Seed name: don't be -0
Notice I didn't say where everything is because it would take the fun out of the hunt and there is about 20 pumpkins
Sounds interesting. Gonna try this one after next patch.
Incredibly high mountains with many arcs, extensions, platforms, etc.
It is very green (lots of giant trees)
Many animals
Excessively large caves (me and my bro spent 40 minutes just exploring a cave, not even mining)
Open lava pits
If you guys want to try it out go ahead, it has a lot of amazing features, great for exploration, and you can do a decent amount of building with it as well!
Great map with large islands in the corners of the world with large ocean in center. Two corners has large mountains and the other are flat areas. Clay, iron, coal are right at starting point. After exploring a bit I found a very large cave in a mountain. Basically its a hollow mountain. It's 39 blocks high by at least 50 across with 3 cave systems going down from it. Several water falls and lava but that doesn't matter any since I'll just make it the way I want anyway. Don't know diamond or gold but assume down there somewhere. I hope for good slime also. I plan on saving this seed for when they come out with the adventure pack update and all that.

Very nice seed! I daresay it puts Elfen Leid to shame with the sheer majesty of some of the mountains and interesting overhangs.
I found one mountain with near vertical faces on all sides. When I got to the top, there was a enormous hole in the center that went straight down to a beautiful and secret sandy lagoon with a small opening to the sea.
I found 4 dungeons very near to the surface within a few hours of exploring the many cave systems scattered around.
Also plenty of sizable and very wooded sandy islands, and a small and secluded desert with cacti, but I haven't found snow yet.

I've seen a couple people ask this. This is what I have found.
Skeleton - X 21 Â Y 56 Â Z 161 (my house is actually right on top of this by about 10 blocks
Skeleton - X 0 Â Y 55 Â Z 197
Spider - X 61 Â Y 77 Â Z 222
The nice thing is they're all really close to one another.
