I've been loving playing Minecraft with my mate over xbox live but he has a flatmate that also wants to play with us, His flatmate doesn't mind buying another Xbox Live account (I assume you could have two accounts on one xbox) but the question is would we all be able to play together? It would mean having two Live accounts signed in simultaneously at his end and both playing minecraft.
Looking for a way that the three of us can play without buying another Xbox! Possible?
You can sign in with a silver account then as a guest and then play split screen. Or if all the controllers are signed in before you start minecraft it will have a screen where the other controllers can sign in as guest.
ONLY IF YOU ARE USING AN HDTV with the HDMI or COMPONENTS i assume.
Sounds like you are describing multiplayer. You can join your mates world or your mate can join your world. No need for a 3rd gold account.
If you are talking about running a dedicated server like it's done on the PC then you would have to have a 3rd xbox which was online all the time running minecraft and using a player slot in the game.

He's talking about having 2 gold accounts on his friends xbox so all three can play together online. I would assume it should work, but does splitscreen work over Xbox Live? Halo was able to have guests play online, maybe Minecraft can as well? It would save money that way.
I don't see any reason to have a third gold account just to play split screen since the guest account works.
The only thing I have found with split screen is the guest always starts out fresh with just a map. Even if the guest has played in the world before and gone through the tutorial screens before.
It will work with only 2 gold accounts, or 3 gold accounts between 2 xboxs.... its possible to play 8 players with only 2 gold accounts.
Hmm...it doesn't seem to work with 2 gold accounts currently as it seems when my mates in the same house play split screen they are considered "offline" and I can't seem to join from my house. Have you experienced this yourself? Thanks

Idk bout that, seems like if they were signed in as "Guests" and not silver or non live accounts it wouild remain as online game.
If there is more than 1 gold account on any Xbox & you sign into each profile, you can use the Drop in & out feature of Minecraft, so to your question yes, if your flatmate gets another gold account he can play Splitscreen with you.
Start the game, sign into player ones profile (gold account) then turn on pad 2 & sign into the other profile (gold account) start Minecraft & load your work, it will come up a dialog asking for each player to press (A) do so & the level will load.

Perfect, it worked! Flatmate number 1 used his gold account, flatmate number 2 signed in as guest (which kept the game online) and then I joined in remotely from my house. Cheers again bud!

I sit in house "A" with a copy of minecraft, a gold account and an xbox.
My 2 mates sit in house "B", They have one Gold account and one xbox.
They want to buy another gold account so that we can all play minecraft together online. Is this possible?
