OK guys, so I'm working with Etherel15's badassery here.
Got the Automated fields set up just fine, can flood them remotely by using redstone to update the square adjacent to the water and make it flow the opposite direction as seen here.
What I can not get to work is Zomb13's water gate.I cant for the life of me get the boats to bounce as they should in any of these 3 videos.
I'm thinking there is something different betwee 1.5 and 1.6.6 (xbox) that prevents the boats from bouncing properly.
Does anyone know a way to stop/start the flow of water on 1.6.6 (xbox) since this doesnt seem to work and we dont yet have pistons? Or do I just need to be patient and continue to try to get the boat to hopefully bounce properly?
Your input is greatly appreciated.
Sorry if this was already covered somewhere, i used the search function AND personally read through the first 30 pages in this forum and couldnt find anything.
well i'm gonna throw my 2 cents in. Assuming that the xbox box and pc version are the "physically" same. As in the way things interact with each other. It could be simple that you have it built the wrong direction. You got it built East to West when it should be North to South. theres quite a few things in this game that are that way.
Then again the pc boats changed a lot. every thing from there hit box to how they float. I will say that's the only one of those i've ever seen and i have watched a lot of auto farming vids.
If this is for an automated wheat farm, I know a WAY easier way, If it is still, just to flood an area, still easy. Message me on xbox live if u want some personal, ingame help
I'm just waiting for pistons, but I did play with one of these a long time ago. If I remember right, it's not necessarily the boat bouncing that causes an issue - it just needs to be aligned a specific way. The boat can stay completely still and it should still work as long as it's facing the right way. At least, I think so.....
I might try to build one on the 360. If I do, I'll let you know what I find out.
I'm thinking of trying to use a trap door to allow water flow via redstone... anyone try this yet?? I have it on my list, but everyday my list gets longer than what I complete. lmao

Seriously East/West vs North/South matters!? ugh wish that was specified in the vid!
If that's the only one of those you've ever seen, do you know of another flood gate controller?

Pistons will make this build much more simple. Yes, pistons will be nice, but I want a solution until then.
Tonight i'm making a water break and boat elevator.

Motivz, I tried that and a few other ideas, but you should really watch the tutorial below on how water/lava works. Things like doors and trap doors will not allow water to pass through closed or open. Other things like signs also do not allow water to pass, this is a key element in a water break and traveling submerged.
This should help shorten your list. Remember xbox is v 1.6.6, id advise going through and looking at the update revision history.

As someone already mentioned, water blocks (really, any blocks) will "float" when placed above trap doors. Standard doors won't allow water through, either. I use trapdoors holding water for elevators and mob traps. Item drops will go through open trap doors.
I am new to Minecraft, but I did watch the videos. Wouldn't it just be simpler to plan for the future piston expansion, and just use a stop block to break for now? I admire the creativity but it seems like a lot of work to duplicate for something soon obsolete.
Did I miss something and there's a way to plant the crop? Planting seems more time consuming.

Seatbelts are not as confining as Wheelchairs. Buckle up.
I can't build this. I'm having a problem with the sand, although the boats are ridiculous, too.
The boats will relatively stay where they should be, but occasionally they'll go clipping out of the structure and sometimes even out of my house... (?)....
Once they're placed, the sand doesn't glitch like it used to. I don't think this works in this version.

1.4 version
1.5 version
The original design is by Zomb13 in the minecraft forums:

That tutorial rocks, thanks for the link!

This is kind of what I'm doing at the moment since I don't feel like building something like in the OP when we're getting pistons sometime soon.
It's clearly not nearly as cool as building something, but it works..... :\
