I'm really confused on how to make your minecart move when your in it. I have regular tracks, the bones that require the plate, and the minecart with furnace(which I cant seem to put anything in). So could someone explain how this works lol.
You need booster rails. When you power a booster rail it makes the cart go. After that you need to put powered booster rails along the track to keep the cart going.
Furnace carts are pretty much worthless in most situations.

I actually used a single furnace cart, powered by a single coal, to push both me and a friend 500 meters. This was before I found enough gold for powered rails.
Just put the furnace cart behind the normal cart. Make sure neither of the carts are touching a stop block. Get behind the furnace cart, equip coal, aim at the furnace and hit LT, and then quickly get in the normal cart. It should push you a long way, very slowly. It just can't do 1:1 or greater slopes.
how many people have had the glitch where every time you put a furnace cart behind another cart instead of pushing the front cart it just goes through it?
Use powered rails. They are just SO much more convienent. Shouldn't need too much gold as one can propel you at full speed on flat ground for 39 blocks(or 64 before you come to a complete stop). Assuming you want the achievement, you can make it work with only 12 gold ingots. For the beginning, place a powered rail with a switch by it so it wont take off without you.

I see people posting that they've gotten a coal cart to push players and other carts around, but mine just clip through each other constantly. I've tried an empty cart, I've tried a cart with a player in it and I've even tried a cart with a dog in it (mostly on accident). The carts just jam or clip through each other.
