Normally, there are invisible blocks that keep you from going too far in any one direction. But, if you go down to the bottom of the world, and keep digging in one direction, you will be able to go on for ever, getting out of the normal world size.

I don't get it... so you have like a 2-block area at the bottom where you can just keep digging outward? Good luck constructing houses in that...
Something makes me doubt this. I have not tried it, but I have had a branch mine just on top of bedrock hit the edge of the world. I wasn't able to collect the items past the wall, I just couldn't mine them.
Same. In my experience, I can sometimes force myself outside the invisible wall using a rail or a helpful creeper.... but then I can't move. Can't jump, can't dig, can't do anything. The places I end up jammed in the invisible wall are generally nowhere near bedrock, though.

Well, i would post the pics, but this is the xbox version, so i dont have a way to. Also, if i log out of the world and then back in, while im in the mine, it spawns me on top of the world, at the edge of the wall. I have dug straight down from there, and its not at the end of my mine.

Also nothing prevents you from going back, right? Otherwise it would be pointless to build down there.
If it works, then it's a bug and should be reported to 4JSteve or 4JStu here on the forum. I think I'll just go message one of them now and ask/tell them about this.
You are unable to touch the blocks with any tool, nor will tnt seem to affect it, or to build on it. Last part annoyed me when i was trying to build a stair case down.
