So I've been playing pretty steady since the games release, I've mined a ton in all sorts or directions and areas and have yet to find any of these areas, is there any special trick to finding dungeons or anything else like that. I've found tons of those mineral riches veins of areas where mobs hang out underground, but thats about it.
OP just mentioned not finding dungeons, so obviously they know what they are..
Anyway, my best luck in finding dungeons is to just explore the cave systems and follow the monster sounds. Zombie dungeons seems to be more common. If you hear a ton of moans coming through a wall, keep digging. That's all, really. I've come across dungeons right at surface level and all the way down at bedrock.

I know where to find them you are correct, chests and that, it just seems that I can't find any dungeons, are dungeons as rare as clay is in this version, because like I mentioned I found a ton of those rich mineral viens using the trick of digging a long tunnel and listening for monster sounds, really I have a bunch of iron that I can't go through because of that, but for the life of me can't find a dungeon.

So I just needed to name my map my own name(plus an L =p) ugh, my seed seems to suck, no snow, no jungles and very rare dungeons,
