Ok, so recently today me and my friend went on a pretty large mining frenzy and came up with a grand total of about 6 and a half stacks of 64 iron ingots (so somewhere near 400). I put them in the chest with all of my other mined ores like 15 DIAMONDS and 10 GOLD INGOTS.
So i go and do other things and come back to find the chest COMPLETELY EMPTY with no trace that it was ever filled up. There is absolutely no way it could have been transferred to any other place and im sure my friend didnt take it because hes not a douche.
So in a furiously confused rant, I restart the world without saving, and sure enough the bars are there. So I go into a mine, make some obsidian, and save because I had a good like 20 blocks. I tell my friend to go get some diamonds and make a pickaxe to help me out of the same chest with all of the iron, and to my suprise, its again empty.
Im stunned this couldve happened a first time and outraged that it happened a second time, which I saved so I have no diamonds, no gold, and no large stacks of iron. Now I know I souldve maybe moved the iron after the first restart but i thought it was a weird bug that would really only strike once. Obviously I was wrong. Im really just looking for some kind of explanation as to why this may have happened and kind of to warn anybody else that this can happen. I was really exctited on playing this game but now its seeming like a waste of my time if things like this are going to be frequent, so any advice?

Your friend probably took them. If you use 360Revolution and use the inventory modder you can see the inventory of other players that are in your game. Just peak to see if your chest items are in his inventory...
^ I've done that alot. I found my friend had been hording lava buckets, I instantly thought, griefing, so I changed them all to milk buckets.
Haha, the same happened to me, my friend had been making tons of flint and steel in my village and so I told him I was getting off for a bit. Got back on an hour later and his inventory was filled with wool.
I just used it to make some big builds, because I like being able to build whatever I want and being able to be creative. I also have a survival world that I play legit on.
Thats when you build a secret room that you only know about. I have a 3 story house with a hidden room for all my chest that i dont want to be used by others.

I never even played MC before. And when I got it for 360, I was actually pretty good.

It was he whose name we shall not speak.
Just make a secret room or something behind a painting.
