Clay in 1.6.6 suffered from a generation glitch in which it would only spawn when the x and y coordinates were the same. Yep, it stinks. I already have plans to gen. a new a new world as soon as an update arrives. 1, because I want clay. 2, my world has no snow biomes, and I have already done huge projects on it, so little point in actually restarting now.
its is just a generation error in the XBLA version of minecraft. It will be fixed in the next update as 4J Studios already know about it. If you want clay really badly then use the seed 888
you spawn near about 4 blocks of clay wich you can duplicate if you want. if you want to dupe it i will not tell you how but youtube has a lot of videos on it
There was a bug in the PC version of Minecraft that made clay one of the rarest materials in the game. This bug was fixed in 1.7 so the same will happen on the Xbox version. It was just a bug that was carried over during the port to the Xbox.
Perhaps if you read the heading of this topic, you would see that it is about clay and diamonds and the rare nature of clay, and as such, the fixing of the clay issue is a top priority.
I have looked at the bugs forum section, and then found this one about clay. Whilst you are correct in your statement of fixing corrupted saves, you are perhaps in the wrong area of the site.
A big issue to one person might not be very big to another, that’s why there are different topics available, this topic is about clay. Oh and diamonds and the rare nature of clay. This was a known issue prior to release of the game.
Perhaps you should read that thread again. Notice that all the bugs marked as "severe" are almost all related to crashes & screen freezes? Again, those are the bugs that should take top priority.
Is the lack of clay stopping you from playing the game... No?
Is the lack of clay causing your game to crash/freeze... No?
So you can't find clay, big deal. So you can't build a brick house, big deal. it will be fixed in the 1.7.3 update which is not too far away..
Minor issue? I think not. Without clay there is no stone or brick, without stone there are no buttons to push.

Not sure were your digging for stone, but I have 37,000+ Cobble which can be smelted into Stone.
Stone has absolutely nothing to do with clay, or how it generates.
I guess you need to find a seed to get clay. It is hard to get clay because of the coordinate thing. Maybe there is a seed with tons of clay at the area. Check 1.6 seeds for clay in YouTube
It would appear that this is a known issue if it has already happened on the pc release of the game; considering that it was an issue back then, it would be illogical not to have known when they released the xbox version.
Fantastic news that they sold more than 1 million copies in the first week, that’s more than 1 million customers that are yet to be attended to.
This issue should be sorted out as a toppriority, not with an excuse about how the same thing happened when the “clay was introduced on the pc version”
Waiting for the first “update”, perhaps they should introduce a first “repair to the issue” with the same gusto that their customers purchased the game.
More than 1,600 million Microsoft points spent in a week (over $20 million), I trust that the Mojang team (and affiliated companies contributing to the xbox release) benefited from the sales, and will now fix this ridiculous problem.
Out of approximately 40,000 blocks, I got (amongst other things) 49 Diamonds, 16 gold ore, and zero clay.
1,500 (approximately) blocks were from under water, the rest were below those.
Clay isn't a top priority, it's the the other freezing and crashing issues
We need clay to make clay blocks, we need clay blocks to make bricks, we need bricks to make Brick walls.
After knowing from prior knowledge from the PC version of minecraft having clay under water, I went to the lakes
in the XBLA version and I couldn't find any. It seems like clay is very rare in Minecraft XBLA version. In fact,
found diamonds before I even saw even one block of clay! (This could be different for most people) I love
building structures out of bricks, but I just can't do it for now.
What I think the problem is that maybe it is just because the XBLA version is still in beta 1.6.6. I don't if that
is the case. (I started playing minecraft PC after 1.2.2) so I'm not so sure.
I hope clay will be more common in the next update! I'm ready to build a fire place!

Hardly. Game breaking bugs such as corrupted game saves & freezing issues, among other things, are top priority. A minor clay generation issue is not.
Fix the big issues first before fixing minor generation issues.
