I feel like, if you break a boat, it should give you the boat back.
I always break my mine cart when I'm done using it, and I keep it with me at all times. I should be able to do the same with the boat, so that I don't have to make a new one every time I need one (my world has lots of water).
Besides, if you break a boat, it doesn't even give you all the materials back... So you have to go gather more materials and go to a crafting table to make another boat. If the boat breaks naturally, by hitting land too hard or something, this is fine. But if I just want to put the boat in my inventory, similar to the mine cart, I should be able to do that.
Agreed, but boats annoy the feck outta me. I cannot control them.
Yeah, the controls are delayed, and when you turn, your X-axis view doesn't adjust based on which direction you're turning, so if you look to the left and turn that direction, you're still going to be looking at the same angle in reference to the front of your boat.
I reckon you should be able to make a bigger sailing boat by combining 4 boats and some wool. The boat would fit 4 players on it and wouldn't break as much as the smaller one man boats.

if only we could get the zepplin mod for xbox then we can make boats and planes
My world has a ton of water as well. I've built a shore house with a dock that has two boat chests filled to capacity. When I go out sailing for whatever reason I always make sure to grab two out of the chest ; one to use, and one to carry if/when the other breaks. Annoying, but not the worst thing in the world.

this is a smart idea and what the ..... is your avatar
Do the boats 'expire' after prolonged sailing too? Seems like mine will randomly bust after sailing for awhile, thats rather annoying.
I often wonder the same thing too. Many a time my boat just falls apart while sailing. Not to mention getting out sends it in a random direction, many times back out to sea. My waters are cluttered with abandoned boats that I just don't wan to swim out and retrieve.

The reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
I swear, the threads in this section are like going back in time. People suggesting things and complaining about things that were talked about in the past. 4J most likely won't change much at all in terms of game play, if they even have the rights to. They're porting the game, not developing it. Suggestions are still best directed at Jeb. Although, I read somewhere that one of the bukkit guys is currently making some changes to boats in a future (PC) release. So it could fix this problem.

Minecraft: Xbox360 Edition is a stand-alone game, and it should be treated as such. It's ridiculous that the game is suffering from the same bugs the PC version previously suffered from.
Obviously, playing on a console is different than on a PC. People don't have mods, and there aren't public servers. This game might be "Minecraft", but it's played so much differently than the PC Minecraft. It should be treated as a different, stand-alone game.
And as such, it should have operate in a way that best suits console players, and should even fix some things the PC version never fixed. Don't rule out a possibility just because the PC version didn't do it. This is a separate game.

The only reason I call it sailing is because there's no motor sound. I imagine it runs on magic... Lol
