Is it just me or are the creeper much harder to deal with?
For me they have been exploding against the walls of my house when I'm inside even though I am not attacking them. I am on normal and my house is 20x20 and 8 high, so its not my house being to small nor are they spawning inside my house. It seems that they are not registering that there are blocks between me and them.
This has not happened to me on the PC version of Minecraft, even on hard or hardcore.
Just noticed that they sometimes are not hissing before exploding. Could just be that the audio isn't synced.
Creepers are brutal for me too! when they hiss, they dont diffuse and the explosions will blow half the side of my house off!
Even if you make making lava pits and an Armageddon arrow despenser, the creepers will STILL blow up! it realy ticks me off
Their blast radius (to me) is much bigger then the PC version of the game (probably because this is an older version of the game). Again, this might just be me.
I think the problem is more that there's a bit of lag for mobs. So it may look like you're far enough away in time, when due to lag, you're not, and it explodes. I've hard small parts of my house blown up a couple times.
I've solved this problem however, by bringing a bow and a bunch of arrows with me at all times. When I first leave my house, I run a bit away from it and turn around quick to see if there's any creepers.
It only seems to be the creepers that rabbiting out of control. I find a few zombies and fewer skells and have yet to find a spider. Its almost all creepers.
Even with defensive measures(pits) they still explode around my house with no provocation.
I hate how they don't die in the sun, I've had a creeper on my house for days at a time, I would get to a vantage point out of his explosion radius and kill him with a bow if he ever gets near your house.
Yeah creepers never funny I have had them drop from sky go boom had 6 charging me at once. I have even had to dig long tunnels under my house with trapdoors and mine carts that take me 30 tracks away because my house has creepers on all 3 other exits.
Also do creepers burn in daylight on Pc? Or is that a mod
they ARE a PAIN.
Two ways of effiecently dealing with them...
1: a bow, three arrows and one slap with a diamond sword. or just arrows.
2: bucket of lava
3: (unsure if it counts) expierence. the more hisses you encounter the more often youll escape them.
I do gotta wonder why the people complaining about creepers, don't just make a Bow and some arrows? Creepers are really easy to take out if you have a bow. It's not like bow and arrows are hard to craft.
A bow is just sticks and string, arrows are just feathers, sticks, and flint. Not to mention, if you do like I do, and make a giant mob grinder, you'll get TONS of arrows.(as well as feathers/bones/string/gunpowder.) And if you get some iron, make some iron armor(or diamonds if you get enough), you don't have to worry about much damage, just bring some food.
Bow, Arrows, good armor. And you'll never have a big problem with creepers again. Just make sure when you leave your house, you check there's none right outside the door. Make backup exits. And run a bit away from the house when you first leave so if they do explode, they won't blow up the house.
My house has a front door, side door, and a ladder to the roof. Not to mention, I can always technically knock a quick door out of the wall and put it back later.
There's also the safer way of simply sleeping as it just starts getting dark, so creepers don't have time to spawn.
Tfx sometimes the fat few day and night cycles you just don't have all the parts 1 game I did not see a sheep till day 3 another game I had to run and swim to find a single tree. And sometimes a creapeer just lurk around a corner and short hiss boom. Had 1 boom no hiss or if it did hiss I could not hear it over the rain
What is peeving me is that they are blowing my house up while I'm in it without provocation.
I cant make a bow because they creeper spawn is stopping spiders from spawning.
My favorite scenario is when I sleep through the night, wake up to go mining/resource gathering and come back that night to find that I've forgotten to close my front door. Half the time it doesn't even register with me that the door was already opened until I've set foot in the house, at which point I hear a creeper creeping, then hissing, then turn around just in time to have it explode in my face.
...I've become rather speedy about rebuilding walls and floors.

Placing a pressure plate in front of your door on the inside will take care of that problem. Then you'll only have to open it when you come back from wherever you've gone. It'll open and close on it's own when you leave, and close on it's own when you've entered the house.
Since it's on the inside, you don't have to worry about mobs opening your door unless they spawn inside your house.
Well, with the XBLA edition of the game you can't jump and turn at the same time unless you have three thumbs which I, sadly, do not have. I do have some FPS experience so it's not too big of a deal. But you are correct, they are harder to kill than PC. It could just be the actual version of the game.
They seem to only be able to be killed by sword when you have a big open area so you can back up after every slice (to keep them from exploding). So carry arrows whenever you are in an enclosed area. Much harder than on PC. I have been killed by them a lot, mainly from behind.
