I have noticed it does it alot around lava or where lava was a bit earlier. Or when there are many people and the games lags, making it "catch up" with the torches.
I've only noticed one issue with lighting when i joined a friends map and it would only like the block it was on, but nothing else. But on my own words it works fine.
