The crafting in Minecraft Xbox Edition is just annoying! Should have a setting were you can have the PC crafting style, and an option of the crafting now. I personaly like the PC crafting better because you dont need to search for what you need, just craft it! But the Xbox Crafting style is also helpful for people new to this game. Do you like my idea? Aslo should update game soon, it gets boring on single player!
I suggested an idea like this a while ago. It was a very controversial topic. I hear somewhere that they tried implanting it into the game, but they couldn't/or gave up on it. Either way, I don't think its coming back. :/ Oh well, the new crafting system ain't all that bad. After playing for an hour or two you tend to get used to it.
On the computer, without the Wiki, I don't think I would have gotten any further than building a house with nothing but walls. I kind of like the simplicity of it.
Even though I know the basic formulas. This makes it easier for me, as before MCXBLE I only played minecraft ont he PC once. Up to then I just watched lets plays until it came on the xbox. Therefore, I like the new crafting system, it makes it easier for me to craft everything, and not just stuff I know.
Yeah I think it would be (somewhat) difficult to place the correct blocks in the correct locations with just the controller. I still click the wrong things in the inventory because of the controller. It seems much easier the way it is.
I am very happy with the crafting menu; a real time saver and intuitive for the most part. The only trouble I had was finding bonemeal in the dye section.
But the Xbox Crafting style is also helpful for people new to this game.
That's the whole point.
It wasn't designed for the old timers, it was designed for those new to minecraft (or those who couldn't play it before due to PC problems)- hince the tutorial. And it had to be "stand alone", since no wiki would be available.
I like the crafting system- you don't have to remember all the recipes. Contrats if you memorized the whole wiki, but I can't.
They should offer both systems on both platforms. They're both different, and offer different approaches to the game, but it's simple game design that something is broken when you need to use an outside source to gain information about how to do something in game, that should already be included.
It has it's pro's and cons. I can see how someone like myself who's played the game since early beta might prefer the PC style crafting simply because we've memorized all the recipies. Someone new to the game however would need to look at a wiki to find out how to craft things. As I understand it, the current crafting went in because they didn't want you to have to go to the wiki to look things up while you are on your console, and honestly, for a controller, I belive the current console crafting is better.
In truth, I wish I had the option to use it on PC, but I'm stuck with crafting table III if I want to do that, and it's a little bit buggy.
Personally I like it. For one, when you are on xbox it would be really hard to move all of the stuff around to craft something manually. Also if you haven't played the PC version it saves you from having to find everything out on your own or look things up.
But still I think there should be an option to have crafting like the PC version for those who enjoy it more.
