So, I've played for about 50+ hours now, and have yet to come face to face with a Slime. Does anyone know what I should look for, when searching for them?
if you're lucky you may find a big cave full of them.
slimes will spawn at all light levels, but if they're lit up zombies/skeletons etc... wont spawn leaving room for slimes
so do what robba024 suggested, light everything up, and then go back through

Don't worry, fella. I've played probably 100+ hours, and still have not seem a Slime. So if you find ONE Slime in the next 50 hours, I'd say you're doing pretty well! =)
took me two months after i first started playing to find my first slime. and now i have been playing since beta 1.2 and only seen about 2 dozen legit slimes on regular world.

Suggestion: In a mine system or whatever you have, goto the bedrock and dig out a few gigantic hallways. It works. I like have a slime generator now it's sweet
Slimes only spawn in the first 40 layers above bedrock, and besides that they only spawn in certain chunks and above a certain light level. (chunk is a 16x16 area if i'm right) So I suggest you just explore cave systems, light them up with torches and come back after a little while to see if you can find some green slimy fellas.
I will try, hopefully I find some, since I really do want Sticky Pistons

Yeah Skeletons are becoming a bigger problem for me since they have those Bows, which make them harder to fight if I waste all my arrows on creepers.

I'd be happy to find one soon, I only saw about a few on the PC version but then they fell into lava.

I have a shaft that leads to bedrock. But it seems that lava covers most of my Bedrock so it makes it hard searching for Diamonds and anything close to bedrock.

In this version it was the first 16 layers. It wasn't until later that they increased the max height they spawn at to 40.
See This thread for information on how to increase spawning rate once you find a slime chunk
