I was digging pretty deep underground to look for resources and found a small cave with mobs in it. After i killed the mobs and mined some iron and gold, I noticed a light source near the small waterfall in the cave and thought it was coming from lava and went to check it out. But it turned out to be a lone torch on the wall where I couldn't reach yet. I thought a Ender man did it. But im not even sure if enderman could move torches or if their even in the xbox version. Could someone tell me what this means or is?
I came across the same thing one time. I was working though a cave system and found a one block hole in a wall. Punched though and in a small closed room was one single torch. I had never been there and there was no other way into the room. It was only about ten up from bedrock at the time. I thought it was odd but wasn't sure if that just happens sometimes .

The reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Normal, no, but it's also not unheard of. In the PC version of 1.6 this occured as well, and if I recall correctly, it had something to do with a previous world not completely deleting and one or two of the chunks from it generating in the new world?
I can't remember, and I could be wrong so don't quote me on that. Anyway, it does happen sometimes, yes.
herobrine isn't real but by the way it could have been anyone in a cave and only had one torch everyone thinks its herobrine its not it could also be a glitch on the system and it may have not been all deleted when you first spawned the world
Normally i would say ur near a mineshaft... that was until you said you were on the xbox 360 version. Maybe it was a load error? Or even worse maybe it was...Herobrine
cool, I'm glad I'm not the only person who thought this was weird.
I punched through a wall and into a 30x30 ( estimate ) room that had about 10 torches places on the walls and was lit up but didn't go / lead anywhere it was just that room, but the only entrance to that room was the one I made.
I have Not played online yet, I only ever play offline for now. So i can confirm it definitely happens.
At first I thought it was a place I blocked off , but I thought about it for a second and it was a part of the map I had just discovered / never been to yet so yea they do appear randomly underground.
same thing sort of happened to me. I found ice randomly generated in a cave, but there wasn't any snow biomes around. and do you have the seed for the world? and the co-ords?

Anyway, back to the topic - it was probably some kind of error in the world generation. We all know that can happen in the world generation.
Can't check coordinates on the 360
