Was online playing with a friend, taking about the updates, and he mentioned that on the PC version, an update to the game would render the current worlds unusable, they couldn't travel from update to update.
Has there been any news on this for the Xbox version? Will we be in for the same problem? I hope and pray we won't, but I'm assuming that's hopeful thinking.
I would imagine (if they don't increase map size) that it would be like the pc version in that any chunks that haven't been rendered yet will be updated. It's just on a much smaller scale on the xbox given the finite amount of land.
That's untrue. But since your world has already been rendered out if you wanted to see new biomes or ravines etc you'd have to start a new world assuming 4j does not increase the size gradually.
Okay, we'll then it's not actually untrue, but I may have misunderstood exactly what he was stating. BUT the worlds are not transferable to the new update, so while they can be played, they CANNOT be played "with" the update, so if you want to experience anything new, then the world you have will not be useable.

Well , im just telling you what we know here. Which isn't much at the moment .
I seriously doubt an update will render previous worlds unusable. That would be a PR nightmare (all those people with dozens of hours invested into their worlds would be irate--I know I would be), and I'm pretty sure they will do everything to avoid it.
