I've notice on youtube that people have been doing this new glitch with diamonds, but can this cause you to lose your account or anything? I understand that minecraft has creative mode somewhat like this glitch but can it actually cause you to get banned on xbox/MC?
no, but it ruins the excitement of finding diamond yourself

Still a credit to your ruse, what a beautiful excuse, To never open up your eyes and see the things you lose,
Just climb the beanstalk when you die and meet the giant in the sky.
MineCraft is non-competitive and they're all reasonably private games.
Nothing stops you from going against Terms of Service for XBL and building giant genitals from duplicate diamonds while you curse your buddy out over voice..... except for general maturity and good judgment, of course.

you can get banned from mc online they said it on the official bug post in this forum
Given the lack of Creative Mode, using the duplication glitch provides an option to quickly and easily provide limited resources in large amounts. That being said it certainly takes the 'challenge' out of Survival Mode. As a result I would suggest using the glitch only to build the world of your dreams, not to give yourself the best gear in order to take make the game easier.
Want to build a crazy minecart rollercoaster? Use the duplication glitch.
Want to give yourself full diamond armor and weapons so you can run through every dungeon and kill every monster with ease? Probably better to just set the game to 'Easy' difficulty and not use the glitch.
Want to build an obsidian castle in the sky? Definitely will have to use the glitch to make things easier, although it is still possible without.
Want to brag about how you killed 1,000+ Creepers with your bow? Meh, you probably used the glitch anywy.

For the record, the thread you mention makes no claim of possible bans for exploiting the glitch. While I do not encourage others to use the glitch for nefarious means I honestly do not see the harm in letting players gain the most fun from Minecraft either. To be fair, the only negative connection to this glitch is the leaderboard stats. In my opinion, Minecraft is not a game where you can quantify experience so the leaderboards are simply glorified stat tracking, not a measure of rank.
Yea i wouldn't believe that you would get punished for doing this, I mean if they wanted to do something about it they would've done did something. an to whome that disagrees show me proof.
considering their is no xp yet i highly doubt they will have any reprocutions... at the most they might just go through and delete all the worlds that have used this glitch but even that is very doubtful. this glitch ruins the game for me so i personally chose not to exploit or abuse it.
