I currently only use it to teleport..... I'm lazy.
Build a portal at your "home base" or whatever. Build another one (or two, or three) a long way away in the Overworld. Regardless of which one you enter, you should always end up at the first one you built in the Overworld. You can also build one in the Nether, but it doesn't get you nearly as far as it should: I think the Xbox is 3:1 in the Nether.
You've seen dozens of videos on AFV of people jumping off ramps on their bicycles into a lake or pond? Same principal.
(Never understood that- how do they get their sunken bike back, and isn't it a water-logged ruin?)
Anyway, there is no point in going, other than so you can say you've been there, done that. Glowstone isn't worth going there for. I've seen videos of it, and it's not a place I'd like to go to.

Yah, the Nether is the only place where you can get netherrack, soul sand, and glowstone. Also, as mentioned before, it's useful for traveling long distances in the overworld.
I am getting tired of seeing topics like this. It seems like everyone wants to endlessly complain about Minecaft xbox edition!
So what if the nether is worth going to at the moment, obviously you know the reasons its not worth going so why do you have to post on the forums!
We all know that the xbox edition is has many setbacks from PC, but don't forget it was released less just over a week ago, and 4J is working hard to fix the bugs and update it to the current version. You are only wasting space by posting this topic.

I sort of had the same question. Would I like there to be more features (gold from Pigmen, ghast tears, fortresses, etc) ? Sure.
In the meantime, I'm not that familiar with this version and I'm not sure if I'm finding bugs or what I should be experiencing. I like this thread - it would be nice to hear what other people are doing. I use it to teleport, a buddy of mine just builds things in it (but don't ever save there.....), etc. I didn't actually know Soul Stone was in this version so now I have something to go find tonight.

In 2 of my games when I make portals I always end up on the same cliff overlooking a lava lake. I was starting to think the Nether wasn't randomly generated at all.
The only thing to fight is Ghasts, And they dont drop anything.
Theres no blaze men spawners and zombie pig men drop pork chops.
The only reason one would possibly want to go there is to get Glowstone... Or easy lava buckets.
It just seems like a lot of work for 0 pay out imo.

Ummmm, what? Are you sure? Have you looked in Nether fortresses? Also, netherwart can be found in Nether fortresses.
