Hi,
I'm a complete minecraft noob, Please help with these questions,
- Where on earth do I find lava?
- I NEED gunpowder for TNT, But I really don't want to get killed by creepers and of course being a complete noob, I would like to know really easy methods, so If you have any methods or really really easy creeper traps please show me

From my experience only Creepers and Ghast(I believe), drop gun powder. You can also find it within dungeons if they have a crate in them.
If your looking for Lava, you can just dig straight down no don't dig straight down but most of the time you can either find it near bedrock or at random places around your world.
There are large lava pools near bedrock, and some maps have them on the surface if your lucky. And you could try building various mop traps but that will get you items from all (Hostile) mobs. Try a skytrap.
I found lava by digging way down to bedrock, then looking around down there. I almost always run into it. As for gunpowder, I don't know. Creepers can be fairly easy to fight off if you know they're there. Also, you can attempt to kill one from a distance with a bow and arrows. That will even get you and avatar award!

Anyways, a good suggestion for lava is search once you hit bedrock, and you will have quite the dig to go through before you hit it, and when you do find it, make a 4x4 or 6x6 water pool by the lava source, and you have an obsidian quarry, once you find enough diamond to make diamond pickaxes
Moats, pits, lit netherrack, once you can build a nether portal, pits with cati in them, fire pits. My base is very brightly lit thanks to the sheer volume of netherrack I have placed, and lit on/around it, so I don't get bothered too terribly much while working around it, but I still keep weapons ready just in case
