nah, it merely depends on people choice, for me and a lot of people, mods aren't essential, i mean, the game itself is pretty awesome, mods are for people who can't be happy with the current game, or just for fun
After survival mode for daze on PC I eventually got bored and looked towards Mods, having everything I need to create huge projects was just a massive help for me. I can be creative on xbox too, It just takes abit longer to get what I need so I doubt i'll have to work with my friends in the future.
An absence of mods from the Xbox version won't harm it at all, both PC and Xbox versions appeal to people in different ways. A lot of people are under a weird understanding that this is the first multi-platform game ever released.

For me... i've been playing Minecraft with mods and in Creative mode for a long time now and in all honesty, being forced to play Completely vanilla is refreshing. It's like re-discovering the game all over again.

Does the lack of mods hurt the success of the xbox game and the xbox game itself?
generation. Social experiment.
Some people still manage to mod Xbox games and get away with it
Having no mods doesn't hurt me at all. I've had the PC version for 2 years and never once used a gameplay altering mod.
To an extent. A lot of people like me liked vanilla Minecraft. The only time I used mods was when I wanted a change of pace. Then I usually would only use Millénaire and Mo Creatures, and of course optifine or my laptop would die .
