One day I was playing mine craft on my Xbox and My brother and I made a total mob proof house and we kept waking up with a skeleton or a zombie attacking us! I don't need any proof of any bugs or stuff because my house was totally mob proof!!! house-mobs=HAPPY!
This is a weird bug. It's still present in the most recent version of the PC as well.
Make sure your house is completely lit from floor to ceiling with torches. Then. make sure neither of your beds are touching a wall. That is what makes the mobs spawn in the night. Your beds must be 2 blocks away from all walls.
Also, something others have forgotten to mention and I just rembered....
If you have double wooden doors, there is a glitch in the PC version that allows mobs to get into your house. It may still be present in the Xbox version because I don't recall when it was fixed on the PC.

Although boring, if you HAVE to sleep, best way is to dig your house underground. I've never had a problem in an underground house.
